ScrapPlezier - Farewell

This is my last layout for this team. I've enjoyed designing for ScrapPlezier since March 2017 and have felt that it is now time to step down. Sure hope I've inspired you each month with my layouts. I decided to head out with a double page layout using lots of photos:

These pics are all from Aaron's grade 7 farewell... these were sooooo many pics of the kids but I really wanted to used them all so that we would remember. Printing little photos is definitely the way to go then. I also was inspired by a layout from Jowilna that I tweaked a bit to make work. Her layout only had one word on the bottom strip, but I decided to make my own (splash) and enhance it with a different one (happy)... which is actually a precut patterned paper by Heidi Swapp. The word together I cut on my Curio machine as well as the clock. The other touches are, splats, bling, stitching and washi tape.

The main feature of this page is adding glitter to the two cutout words. To do this I added very strong adhesive tape to a scrap of paper large enough to fit behind each word. Once it was stuck i simply sprinkled the glitter on and pressed it into the tape to stick. Dusted the excess off back into the jar. Hey presto! Glittery words. Besides getting glitter all over me, the floor and my worksurface I am happy with the layout. Don't think I will rush and use glitter again soon though.... not my favourite!

I've really enjoyed my time and will miss it, but need to scale back on some of my commitments to give me some breathing space. Still have loads more layouts in the pipeline coming up so don't go anywhere!

ScrapPlezier - Ireland

I have had these photos for quite a while waiting to be scrapped. I actually had a different layout planned for them but when it came time to scrap it, the photos didn't fit that page... so then i was slightly stumped!

I decided then to make an interactive layout and started looking for ideas. I came across this video tutorial by Heidi Swapp from years back. I took this idea and ran with it to make my layout... a simple way to include lots of photos onto a single without it being overly cluttered or bulky.

Here's the flaps open (the red bit is just to cover up the grotty surface I was taking my pics on):

I used lots of Kaisercraft Wanderlust papers on this page... also been storing them especially to scrap these photos... so it was really nice to get it done finally. I dug out my sticker box and added some bits and pieces from various sticker sheets to the page... anything that would go with the theme or the colour. I even typed my journalling and stuck that inside the flaps. Final touch was the word Ireland for my title also done in stickers.

ScrapPlezier - March moodboard

It's time for our newest moodboard for the month and it's a lovely red:

I knew as soon as I saw this moodboard colour which photos I wanted to scrap. Yet my layout is more about the red in the photos but I have added some touches of red to the page too. The paper with the planes on it I've had for years... it's soooo cute I didn't want to cut it but I think I'm passed that stage now and am just using what I have. I then cut the thin red strips from the same paper (the back side). The large red strip is actually washi tape. I die cut a heart out of a piece of inked paper that was in my scraps... it's got flecks of gold on it too.The aeroplane is a stamp (I was aiming for a helicopter but don't have that stamp!). Lastly, my title is stamped letters with a flare added for the hastag and some stitiching along the bottom. This layout is inspired by a Jowilna original from a few years back.

ScrapPlezier - Heart to Heart

It's the new month and we have loads of inspiration coming over on the blog this month... like this layout from me today:

I used some Illustrated Faith papers that I've been hording for a while... I love the bright colours of the papers but don't always have the perfect pics for them. These pics are by no means perfect. In fact they are all saved from a video I took of the kids doing their play. They are also fairly dark which is why I matted them on yellow to help lighten my layout. I kept the whole page fairly simple and besides the strip of star paper and cardstock, all the rest is from one sheet of paper. A nice economical page.

ScrapPlezier - Moments

This month is flying by. I haven't been scrapping as much this month as in January, maybe because I did all my Feb DT pages in January... hehe. I am slowly working through my March commitments as well as a few digital pages inbetween too. But here is one of my pages to share with you today:

For this layout I took my inspiration from some of the colours of the moodboard for this month. I picked up on the blues and then added in the brown for contrast. I kept my layout fairly simple so as not to distract too much from the small photo. I also used an old Project Life Card to create a subtle subtitle for my page. My other embellishments include ribbon, thread and stitching.

My technique on this page is stamping. I tried to do a two colour stamp on my title. I first masked the big word and inked the small ones in brown and stamped them onto the page. Next I masked the small words and inked the rest of the stamp in blue and then stamped that onto the page. I used the same two colours to stamp the flowers.

ScrapPlezier - Feb moodboard

It's time for us to share the new moodboard at ScrapPlezier. When I saw it I knew I had the perfect photos to scrap!

I used a cutfile by Paige Evans for my page and combined it with some Bo Bunny papers in shades of blues and greens to pick up the colours.

ScrapPlezier - Precious Bundle

Last month we had our National Scrapbooking Day on the 26th of January. I didn't scrap on that day but rather did quilling demos which was fun and a first for me. Part of the day though there were various competitions.... one of which is a sketch competition for Scissor Sister Kaisercraft Kits. Well I couldn't pass up on the opportunity to scrap this great and easy sketch so dug out some papers and then found these gorgeous photos of my boy when he was very little (a few months old).

I created a quilt effect by doing some hand stitching between each of the blocks of paper on the background. Kept the layout fairly simple with just using some title strips on the right and adding some bits from the collections pack for the title and embellishments. Added in some buttons and splat stamping too. The little train is a chipboard one I've had for years (most probably as long as I've been scrapping!). I sprayed it with a mixture of Nuvo mousse, all purpose ink and distress oxide refill... all in shades of dark blue. Once dry I then inked it a little with more distress oxide ink before adhering it to my page.

I really love how my page turned out. As I have already scrapped these photos years ago and that layout is in my album, I might just have to get myself a frame for this one to go up in the house.

ScrapPlezier - Scratched

It's weekend! Yippee yay. That means scrapping time for me in my happy place. I will be finishing up some projects that I have on my desk and hopefully starting a few new ones too. It's all part of getting the memories into an album. Just like today's layout:

It's hard to scrap about the not so nice things that happen in life but I try very hard to include those in my album too... like my car being involved in another bumper bashing.. thankfully this one wasn't serious and more of an inconvenience. As I drive a green car I usually try and scrap with green colours. For my layout I used some pretty papers just to soften the blow! I used the Miss Nelly Collection - Her Laugh and then added in the bluish strip and the green dotty bit from the Party Animals Collection - Hooray. I also added some bakers twine in green around the bottom and over the flags at the top. To highlight the scratch theme I used a wonky circle diecut in brown.

ScrapPlezier - Jan moodboard

Yesterday was such a busy day for me I never got close to my pc at all. I was busy making salads and pudding before going to work, then once done it was fetch and carry Aaron before the long trek to the airport and back to fetch my Uncle and Aunt who flew in from PE. We then had a family supper last night with my brother as well.... busy day but so rewarding. Today will be another busy day with shopping this afternoon for my Aunt and then tomorrow morning I take them to the airport again so they can fly home to Zim. I think then I can put my feet up for a while and maybe get some other things crossed off my to-do list.

Back to the topic of discussion for today though:  Scrapping for ScrapPlezier.

This month's moodboard is definitely a stretch for me.... I don't enjoy scrapping in black & white and have very little in the way of stash to make it work.... but make work I did and I must say I really love how this layout turned out:

For my layout I found an awesome sketch in one of my pinterest folders and then went from there. I hand-stitched a circle in white onto the white background. The one "new" part of my layout is the subtle grey dot stamp which is from the Kaisercraft Scrap Studio set I bought for my birthday. I then added a bit of white texture paste through a stencil. I diecut a whole host of hearts from various Kaisercraft off-cuts that I have that are in different shades/patterns of black. I also added very old Kaisercraft rubons and then the letter stickers for my title. As a final touch I added some washi tape strips and ink splat stamping and the date stamp.

Hope my layout will inspire you to also stretch yourself a bit and make a layout with this moodboard.

ScrapPlezier - Our Memories

I am starting out this month's sharing for ScrapPlezier, with a layout about the close of another one... New Year's Eve dinner 2014.

My layout came together by using various Kaisercraft papers based purely on the colour choices. I started with the circle paper (Lush Collection - Japonica) and then picked up the orange colour in the dots (Little One Collection - Mia). I used a strip of blue polka dots (Bubblegum Hills Collection - Blue Lemonade) for the tag paper. The journalling tag as well as the word strips are all from the bow & Arrow Collection - Fire. Just by working with colours it is easy to make papers from different collections work together.

The last few touches on my layout were the diecut corners in gold and then a sprinkle of star sequins.

Hopefully I have now inspired you to also dig out some papers and make them work together.

ScrapPlezier - Christmas Delivery

It's super duper hot again this week... I really don't cope well when it's so hot...would rathre just lie on the couch and nap! Only one more working day left of this year then I am on holiday for two weeks. Roll on the weekend! I am not planning to do a heck of a lot this year, but my to do list is getting full...will just tackle each task as I can and see where we get too by the time I go back to work in January.

One of the tasks of course is scrapping...this layout I made on Monday and I have another one due for Saturday still needing to be put together....eeck!!!

I've used two different Kaisercraft collections on my layout:
December 25th
Twig & Berry

Yes these are very old collections, but Christmas never goes out of fashion and the colours are always relevant.

I used the green and white papers for my background to mount everything on. The tree is made with bits for a variety of papers, just picking up on colours and patterns. I used a journalling card as a tag sticking out from under the photos. This worked nicely as it already had the date on the card.

To finish off my layout, I added a star which I had diecut. I used various bits from the Twig & Berry collectables pack and the scattered some gold brads around the tree for added effect.

ScrapPlezier - Dec Moodboard

It's getting closer to Christmas and the silly season sure has set in. I've had such a busy week last week with the end of term for school, my busy week billing at work and then also selling my quilling goodies at the Night Market at school as well as setting up my Mom's new pc and printer. Just been soooooooooo busy that I haven't had too much time to scrap. I managed to carve out a few hours yesterday to put this page together:

This layout is totally inspired by a Jowilna original page that I've wanted to do for the last three years! I finally managed to get it done.

I used two items from the Kaisercraft collectables for the Scrapyard collection... the LOVE words matched my layout theme exactly. The rest of my layout is made from Simple Stories paper and Project Life cards that I've had in my stash for years. The background of my page has also had some mixed media techniques applied to it... gesso, gold paint, stamping, texture paste, inking and then brads and thread as well.

We got to play with this moodboard this month. I was influenced more by the gold than the grey and ended up using more black than grey too... but it is all shades of the same colour isn't it?

ScrapPlezier - Glow

After all the birthday celebrations last week, things have sort of quieted down. Aaron is still busy with his last few exams and I spent yesterday running around getting my car sorted (aircon and brake lights). I am also looking forward (sort of!) to our work end of year function on Friday... doing a game drive.

But before any of those things get finished, I still have scrapping that needs doing. This layout is one of those I created this past week:

I treated myself with some of my birthday money to a new Kaisercraft stamp set - Scrap Studio. So having a new "toy" I thought I'd use it. I used the filmstrip, dots and sentiment from the stamps on my layout. I've also added an inked and embossed piece as well as stitching, buttons, stickers and splats. Even the pattern paper is from leftover stash...great to combine the old with the new.

ScrapPlezier - Beautiful Day

I am sharing another layout with you today... this one for ScrapPlezier.

When I sat down to scrap these photos I almost hit a scrapping block... it was so hard to make the layout "work". So I turned to my favourite place for inspiration of any kind ... Pinterest. I had already decided on the paper I wanted to use, an old sheet of Prima called Lady Bird. So I simply searched for layouts using that paper, watched a process video and bingo... inspiration hit. So here's what I did to create my page:

I cut the title word off the top right corner of the paper and cut out the tree branches from the bottom left corner. The piece that was left I cut into a large circle and used the reverse side which is grey with tiny blue dots.
So after sticking the circle to my page I mixed some Turquoise all purpose ink into some glossy texture paste and applied this to the page through a circle stencil.
Once dry I used a coffee stain stencil with walnut distress ink to leave coffee marks all over my page.... I might have gone a tad overboard but in the end I was actually happy with the effect.
I then mounted and stuck down my photos and added the banners at the top of the page with some yellow stitching to pick up the yellow in the roses and on the title strip.
I mounted both the title strip and the bird on foam for extra dimension.

So my tip this week for you is that when your scrapping mojo takes a holiday, get inspiration from a piece of paper and pinterest... you will be amazed at what you can create

ScrapPlezier - Nov Moodboard

It's been a much quieter week this past week after all the fun of my party last weekend. I feel a little more "normal"... hehehe. I even managed to get some scrapping done during the week.

When I saw this moodboard I just knew I wanted to scrap these pics of Aaron and his bunny... his green shirt lends itself to the colours. I used a few bits from the Kaisercraft Mint Wishes collection and some other green papers as well. I also used a barcode strip from the Stargazers collection as the blue went so well. There is lots of stamping and inking on my layout as well as a little sewing. This whole layout is based on a Jowilna original page from a few years back.

ScrapPlezier - Life Is Beautiful

It's been an eventful week in our family this past week... Aaron got made a prefect at school for next year and it was Keith's birthday on Thursday. I also managed to do some scrapping the last two days to catch up a bit on my DT commitments for November... especially as I am busy over the next two weeks with a scrapbooking event and my 50th birthday party that I am having. I am busy doing major planning and decor prep... so am juggling all sorts at the moment.

The nice thing is that I can still get some scrapping done and so share with you some new pages... like this one I made for ScrapPlezier based on a Jowilna original design.

I started this layout by choosing the Kaisercraft paper to determine the overall colours. I didn't want anything too bright so went with the pastel shade as my base and then added the strip of florals. Picking up on the colours in the papers I applied some selective stamping and paint splats in a few areas. Once these were dry, the matted photos were stuck down and then I went hunting for a quote to tie in with my photos. For some layouts where you don't really want to journal, a quote is a nice way to say something without being over the top. My final touches were the stitching, some stickers and buttons. And then I started dithering on the title... it took me nearly three hours to decide on how to title my layout - from diecutting to stickers and finally found three different stamps that worked together perfectly. Some pages just work easily and some take time. Never let the hurdles keep you from finishing a page... put it to one side and come back when you can think freshly again.

ScrapPlezier - Oct Moodboard

It's time again for our monthly moodboard challenge at ScrapPlezier and this one definitely stretched me a bit...

I struggled with this combo to start with... not my favourite colours at all, but then I got inspired by these cute duck pics and so went hunting for a sketch. I found one from Creative Scrappers that inspired and so the layout evolved from there. I started with some black soot distress oxide which I splatted onto the background of my layout. Then I used various sheets of Lady Pattern Paper for my circles and backed them with grey or gold cardstock. Lastly I dipped some old book paper into yellow and orange distress oxide inks and diecut some leave and feathers. Once all these pieces were done I matted my three photos on black cardstock and stuck everything down. I added a few scattered enamel dots and bling and then finally diecut my title.

ScrapPlezier - Birds of a Feather

I have another layout to share today, this time for ScrapPlezier.

I chose a simple grid layout for this sketch and used small photos so that I could include six of them. For the little pattern paper squares I used some blue scraps from the Indigo Skies and Ubud Dreams Kaisercraft Collections. I added little touches of yellow in the flowers, thread and washi tape to pick up on the yellow beaks of the birds. I found a cutfile for my title which I then also backed with yellow as it showed up better on the green strip. Lastly I added a few blue blings.

ScrapPlezier - Wheels

I am sharing a layout today with a more "manly" feel to it.... all about piling on the kms in my car.

For my layout I started with the background piece of Kaisercraft paper with the cityscape on it (Off The Wall Collection - Attitude) ... it really was the basis of my inspiration as I keep driving the city roads.

I then added the barcode strip of this piece over the banner piece which is from Kaisercraft Garage Days collection (Tyre Shop). I also used two other barcode strips from this collection.

To keep with the "wheels" theme, I applied some nuvo mouse through my Hurricane Stencil by Jow. I finally decided on my title and created a cutfile for it and then cut it out on my Silhouette Curio machine. A very simple but effective page.

ScrapPlezier - Sept Moodboard

It's time for a new moodboard and what is better than my absolute favourite colour - BLUE

I chose to make my layout about my and by best buddies doing what we love best - scrapping!!! This layout is based on one by Jowilna.

For my layout I used two strips of Kaisercraft paper and then added some washi tape, ink, stamping, stitching and rubons all in various shades of blue.
