Off The Rails - Feb moodboard - Recycle

I am sharing today my layout for Off The Rails moodboard... I really liked the bright colours and used that as my starting point:

With our theme too of recycling I decided to use up some of my leftovers for my page. I pulled out all the bits that had lots of colours on them, punched squares and then cut those in half to form triangles. Next up was to arrange the triangles in a chevron pattern across the page and machine stitch them in place.

The photos were also punched into squares and then mounted into photo strips. This is all mounted onto a piece of patterned paper. Lastly I dug out some old button stickers and a few others to add to the layout.

The only "new" bit on my layout is the title which I created in Silhouette Studio and then cut out.

UnstampaBellas: Feb 2019

Yes I might already be on a few design teams and be busy busy with all my scrapping, but I've took the plunge and applied (and was accepted) to a new team:

By The Numbers Challenge - week 1

It's time to share a few layouts I've been making for my 2018 album. There is a new challenge series going on in the Simply Project Life facebook group that I am using to motivate me to get my pages done... it's called #bythenumberschallenge. Here's what I've managed to do so far:

1. Page with only 1 photo - I decided to make the front page for my album:

2. Use two different kits - I used the Bloom Edition and Kiwi Edition kits.

3. Use three square pockets - I took a bit of liberty with this one and used three squares as embellishments.

4. Use Bigshot4 template - Made right side in Design U using #justaddcolorphotooverlay and #fft journalling, then exported. Finished in Bigshot4. Used the #HelloDecember kit to get the green colour.

I will post a few more pages next week... the challenge runs till the 18th of March if you want to play along too.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 15 Feb

It's finally time to share this layout:

I looked at the sketch and found photos that would work with the right side of it but when I came to scrapping, the alignment went very vertical... at least I was inspired by the sketch! hehe.

ScrapPlezier - Moments

This month is flying by. I haven't been scrapping as much this month as in January, maybe because I did all my Feb DT pages in January... hehe. I am slowly working through my March commitments as well as a few digital pages inbetween too. But here is one of my pages to share with you today:

For this layout I took my inspiration from some of the colours of the moodboard for this month. I picked up on the blues and then added in the brown for contrast. I kept my layout fairly simple so as not to distract too much from the small photo. I also used an old Project Life Card to create a subtle subtitle for my page. My other embellishments include ribbon, thread and stitching.

My technique on this page is stamping. I tried to do a two colour stamp on my title. I first masked the big word and inked the small ones in brown and stamped them onto the page. Next I masked the small words and inked the rest of the stamp in blue and then stamped that onto the page. I used the same two colours to stamp the flowers.

Sketch N Scrap - Queen of Hearts crop

Using the sketch below create a layout and as an added twist, use a grid. Yip I used a sketch that has one already so it's a no-brainer. You can use photos in your grid like I did, or just use lots of different papers. Can't wait to see what you create.

ScrapPlezier - Feb moodboard

It's time for us to share the new moodboard at ScrapPlezier. When I saw it I knew I had the perfect photos to scrap!

I used a cutfile by Paige Evans for my page and combined it with some Bo Bunny papers in shades of blues and greens to pick up the colours.

Lets Scrap Sketches - 1 Feb

I might be a few days late with sharing this post but I still think it's totally worth it. It's hard to believe that these photos were taken at the end of Grade 7 and now my boy is in Matric! Yikes, soon I will be scrapping his very last day of school never mind just primary school.

We had this wonderful sketch to work with, though I only used the right hand side. I took my inspiration from the stars on the sketch but used a circle star cutfile instead to frame my slightly blurry photo of the group. I also used some diecut stars around the page as well as rulers which were cut from the pattern paper. All the papers on this page were from leftover scraps of past school pages.

Sketch N Scrap - Feb card

It's a new month and we have a new card sketch to share... here is my example.

I got inspired by a challenge in last month's crop which was about using only stickers on a card so I dug through my stash and found these ones which matched the sketch idea beautifully. I started with a piece of book paper that I dipped into some gold ink. Once dry I cut it to size, matted it and then adhered it to the card. The stickers and bling finished it off nicely.

A perfect card for valentine's day in a few days time.

ScrapPlezier - Precious Bundle

Last month we had our National Scrapbooking Day on the 26th of January. I didn't scrap on that day but rather did quilling demos which was fun and a first for me. Part of the day though there were various competitions.... one of which is a sketch competition for Scissor Sister Kaisercraft Kits. Well I couldn't pass up on the opportunity to scrap this great and easy sketch so dug out some papers and then found these gorgeous photos of my boy when he was very little (a few months old).

I created a quilt effect by doing some hand stitching between each of the blocks of paper on the background. Kept the layout fairly simple with just using some title strips on the right and adding some bits from the collections pack for the title and embellishments. Added in some buttons and splat stamping too. The little train is a chipboard one I've had for years (most probably as long as I've been scrapping!). I sprayed it with a mixture of Nuvo mousse, all purpose ink and distress oxide refill... all in shades of dark blue. Once dry I then inked it a little with more distress oxide ink before adhering it to my page.

I really love how my page turned out. As I have already scrapped these photos years ago and that layout is in my album, I might just have to get myself a frame for this one to go up in the house.

IQCG - My Passion & Love

It's time for my first reveal for the Indian Quilling Challenge Group... and our theme this month is My Passion & Love. Well anybody who knows me well knows what I love.... CHOCOLATE. So what better thing to start off with than making a whole box of chocolates:

I've wanted to quill these chocolates for years... ever since I bought one of my quilling books, simply because it has them on the cover... yummy.

I also bought this stamp which comes with a few dies as well, especially for card or scrapping but the sentiment works perfectly for me and so I used it for my box of chocolates.

I stamped and embossed the words in the middle of my piece of white, then added a few strips of washi tape to cordon off the areas. I then just applied distress oxide ink in three different shades to the squares and added a few splatters of water. Once it was all dry I stuck my chocolates to the squares.

These all looked so good and realistic that the other night whilst I was still making them, Aaron thought they were real and asked if he could have one... hehehe. Think I best go find some chocolate to eat now.

Lets Get Sketchy - 1 Feb

Another layout to share for today:

I won a whole host of product from Penelope Dee in their December Christmas Traditions giveaway and so decided I best delve in and use some of it. I created this page with the Paradise papers. I went all out and fussy cut the seahorse and shells and also all the words.

The two photos weren't taken together, in fact the landscape one is more zoomed in, but I found they lined up so well that it just worked to arrange them as such. The photos were taken from our hotel room up on the fourth floor looking out to where Keith had gone fishing... he is one of those minute dots out there somewhere on the beach near the rocks!! At least the memory is down on paper.

Stick It Down - Feb2019 Double

It's a new month already... January seemed to take forever but also flew by if you think that we are now in the second month of 2019. January was a good scrapping month for me in that I got all my February DT scrap commitments done within record time and still managed to do a few other bits too.

Today the weather is much cooler than it's been... we've had some heatwaves over the past few months. As I type this, it's busy raining.... so blessed to have the rain falling.

Today is sketch reveal day and I am the featured double page layout designer this month. Here's my take on our sketch:

I chose our trip to Mocambique in 2014 for this page as I had the one big photo that needed scrapping and the rest fitted into the layout. I love how easy it is to adapt a sketch to suit the photos on hand.
