Hexagons galore

I decided this month to try my hand at the latest Kaisercraft challenge from their blog... to create a layout with hexagons.

I used an older collection for my layout...Forget-Me-Not. All the small hexagons, the title and the tags are from the collectables pack.

I am also entering this layout in the Sketch N Scrap bonus challenge where we needed to use chipboard elements and thread (I stitched all around the hexagons). Plus this is my single page for one of the Scrapbook Generation's Life Is A Circus crop challenges. Phew nice to be able to multitask on a page.

Off The Rails - Ribbon tutorial

I have made a 3d breast cancer ribbon for my tutorial this month.

I used Lady Pattern Papers and lots of pink and white flowers, buttons and bling to add to my design.

You can see my full tutorial on the blog.

I was inspired by the competition in Scrap Affairs to make something pink. This project stewed around in my brain for over a month before I actually sat down and made it.

Weekend quilling

I hauled out my quilling this week and now the bug has bitten again. I made a few new creations:
Clown

Dalmation
The inspiration for this little puppy I got from this youtube video

Penquin
This little penguin is a birthday gift for a school friend of Aaron's who loves penguins. The inspiration for this was from a picture we found on the internet and then I figured out how to make him with a few alterations.

So remember, if you would like something made that I haven't done before, I can find inspiration anywhere and create a little creature.

A few hidden treasures

I was going through a box last week looking for something and came across a few of my older quilled creations... thought it was worth sharing them with you.

a cute little ellie

A prickly hedgehog

I am busy working on a few more at the moment so will be sharing them soon too.

Sketch N Scrap - Queen of Hearts Crop

I have taken part in this month's online crop with Sketch N Scrap again... this crop is so nice and easy... just need to make a layout with the sketch provided and you have two weeks to do it. Here's what I made:

At least I have managed to do a little bit of scrapping this month. I think I might have overdone it last month and some of my mojo left the building. I find it almost an effort to sit and scrap... sure this feeling won't last long!

Hello Baby

Before I start with my next pile of DT layouts to be done I thought I'd show you my last layout I made:

This is a Jowilna original layout that I have been planning to do for ages... I got the perfect baby paper in my Kaisercraft stash from Jeaunes and it all came together quickly. Love these messy but clean looking layouts.

Off to spend my day scrapping. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

ScrapPlezier - Old and New

I have a new layout up today... it's a mix and matchy page of old and new

I was inspired by the colours in this month's moodboard and chose an old PageMaps sketch as my starting point. I used old papers and stickers from my stash and then added some new inky technique splashes to the background. I also used my new distress oxides to ink a tag.

Come and play along on the blog and find a lot more inspiration.

Let's Get Sketchy - 15 Feb reveal

Here's my second post for today... the reveal for Let's Get Sketchy:

I used some old stash from Kaisercraft for my layout and even dug out an old metal frame (the orange one) from a mini album class I did when I started scrapping (I have pulled the whole thing apart to use the bits).

We used this great sketch today:

Let's Scrap Sketches - 15 Feb reveal

Phew it's been another hectic week... exciting in that my photobook arrived on Tuesday... I got to drool over my handywork from January. I still haven't managed to scrap at all this week, so thankfully my DT commitments got done in Jan too. Here is today's one for Let's Scrap:

We used a "blast from the past" sketch for our inspiration this week.

ScrapPlezier - February moodboard

It's been a chaotic week at work with a major billing deadline for me. I haven't even had any chance to scrap this week.... it's just been work, work, work! Hopefully things will calm down a little over the next week and I can get back into my grove. Thankfully I managed to do all my DT commitments already so don't need to worry about those just yet.

Speaking of DT commitments, we have a new moodboard challenge up at ScrapPlezier:

For my layout I chose to use some old Authentic papers that I had in my stash that matched my photos and also the moodboard colours. I used an orginal design from Jowilna for my layout which is fairly simple with the focus on the photos.

There is a bit of stitching, some ink splatters and a few stickers, stamping and buttons.

The tag is made by stamping in versamark ink and then embossing with clear embossing powder. Once heat set I then dipped my tag in three colours of distress oxide inks, drying between each colour. The ink doesn't stick to the embossed parts, hence they look white.

Here is the moodboard to work from:

remember to pop on to the blog for more inspiration.

Stick It Down - Feb Double Page

It's a new month and new sketch reveal day. Here's my layout:

We are playing along with Scrap The Boys this month and I used the "explore" part of this moodboard to inspire me for my page.... we explored the putt putt course.. hehehe.

Come play along with us too and find more inspiration on the blog.

January scrapping tally

Soooooo I reckon you guessed from all my posts in the last while that I did a LOT of scrapping in January.... in fact that is almost an understatement. I did a HUMONGOUS amount... here's the stats:

23 double layouts +  71 single layouts = 117 pages scrapped.

Yes I did do a lot of them digitally as I scrapped my whole 2017 album.... that accounts for 78 pages... which still means that there were 39 paper pages created.... a lot of scrapping!

I usually only manage to get to around 100 pages in July. So to already be that far along there is hope that I might actually make my 365 page goal this year. Let's see how things pan out.

Here are a few pages that I haven't yet shared:

I made this for the Blind Scrap challenge as part of the Stick It Down weekend crop.

This next page I made at the beginning of January when Judi came and scrapped with me for the day:

As I am currently on 5 different design teams I know that there will still be 8 or so layouts made each month.... so for now I am heading for my happy place to tackle another one.

SA National Scrapbook Day - report back

Last week Saturday I attended the Randburg SA NSD event and had a FANTABULOUSLY productive day.... I got to scrap 10 layouts from start to finish.

All these pages are from my 2014 album... definitely making inroads into that long to do list of planned pages.

A lot of people were surprised that I got so many layouts done in that one day.... well here's my little secret.... the 6 P rule...

Proper Planning Prevents Pretty Poor Performance

This is something that one of my computer lecturers drummed into us every lesson and has stuck.

I planned all my layouts to do on the day.... chose ones that didn't have any techniques, used simple sketches and packed each page as a kit... from papers to stickers and embellishments, even stamps or lettering stickers. Yes they are not fancy or over embellished, but they are done, photographed and filed. Ten less layouts to do for that album!

So go and plan a page, pack a kit and have some scrapping fun.

Digi Album Done

Ok so I posted a few times in January about my digi album... well I can say that it got finished, uploaded, ordered and paid for before midnight on the 31st... talk about cutting it fine! I did about 20 pages over 3 days plus journalled on about 15 more to get it all done. Now just waiting for the printed copy to arrive (and praying I did it correctly!).

So here's a warning of a VERY photo heavy post.... all my layouts that I haven't yet shared for this project.

Thanks for sticking with me to the bottom of this post... hehe.
