Single pages

Over the Easter weekend I managed to have a few days of dedicated scrap time. I decided to do a few single pages for submission to the next issue of Scrap Affairs... not holding my breathe that they will get picked, but I did manage to get a few more done on my layout-a-day goal so that is a plus anyway.

This first page I also did for a challenge at Scrapbook Generations... a layout using strips for the background. I used pieces from 2 Celebr8 ranges, Hello and Let's Chat.

These next three layouts are all using parts of scraps and stash...so nice to dig through my stash and find goodies to use instead of just horde.

So there you have it... some more pages done and photos scrapped. Now I have a whole loooonnnngggggg weekend ahead with time to do a whole bunch more scrapping. Much needed therapy.

Project Life layouts

Way back in March I did a Project Life class with Jowilna... well here is the host of layouts that I put together that day whilst there.

The first two layouts were class pages that we did to go with PL layouts alongside. I turned the first one into a double but left the second as a single. They both use the same range of paper by Authentique.

We received a few PL cards in our kit for the day and I used them for this fun layout.

For this bright layout I used a few cards and then added some orange texture paste through my fireworks

Ok so looking at these pages, I didn't use nearly as many Project Life cards as I thought... yikes. Guess I best find some more layouts to do.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 15 April

I was out all day yesterday scrapping that I forgot to post about the new sketch that's up at Let's Scrap... oops.

This is the sketch that we got to work with.

I enjoyed playing with this layout... coloured my title letters with different bits of paint to mimic the balloon colours. I also diecut two ballons for added effect.

Come and play along with this sketch and you could win $10 gift certificate.

ScrapPlezier - Mix and Match

I have a layout up on the ScrapPlezier blog today.

I love the ease with which to mix and match collections of paper by one (or many) manufacturers. That's what I managed to do on this layout. I used:
Barber Shoppe Collection - Groomed
Charlotte's Dream Collection - Fantasy (front and back)
Now Boarding Collection - Sail (journal card)
Take Note Collection - Memo & Paper Journal (Flags and feathers)

The papers carry the calm theme through the whole layout without distracting from the photos.

The added finishing touches are stencilling and stitching along the bottom, as well as a few circles and a heart diecut from a piece of mixed media paper I had made last year. Don't throw anything away as you never know when it will come in handy!

This layout is based on a Jowilna original (with my added twists of course.)

So haul out some of your scrap stash and make a masterpiece or two with some mix and match.

ScrapPlezier - April Mood Board

This month's mood board  challenge is up at ScrapPlezier. Here is what I created:

This is the moodboard we had to play with:

When I first saw this I was a bit stumped as purple is not a colour that I scrap with often. It really stretched my thinking. BUT photos to the rescue... about two days after I got the task I got my photos back from the printer and in the pile were the three photos of our irises. What better subject to scrap for this colour.

Next up was to find a sketch to play with. I work best with sketches so that is usually my starting point. I found this perfect inspiration from Valerie Salmon of Got Sketch.

As the sketch uses a cutfile for the top half of the page, I decided that that would be the perfect addition to my layout too. I found a file from Ashley Horton that she had designed for Hip Kit Club. I made the file a bit smaller as I only have a Silhouette Curio machine that only cuts 8 inches wide. I cut the floral background out of a deep purple cardstock for my colour inspiration.

I matted my photos in some more of the purple and then added some glitter stips for a little bit of bling.

I even managed to find my purple stickers for my title. As it's all the same colour the title is very subtle. I used a title strip from the Brick Wall paper of the Kaisercraft Scrap Yard Collection as a journal strip as the flowers truly speak for themselves.

So there you have it... I stretched myself and managed to pull a beautiful layout together without tooooo much stress. So why not do the same and come play along.

ScrapPlezier - Project Life

It's time for another layout reveal on the ScrapPlezier blog for me.

During March I did a Project Life class with Jowilna. Though I have never taking to Project Life as per se, I do have a whole tin full of PL cards. So I decided to make a whole host of layouts to use some of them up... only managed a small dent!

For this layout, I used Kaisercraft Off the Wall cards from the Wicked sheet of paper. A few white splats of irRESISTable spray just draw the eye into the page. As my photo has red in it, I used one red bingo card (from Simple Stories) to carry the colour through.

So why not get out your PL cards and create a layout or two?

Inky Technique layouts

It's fun when you get to play with inks, paint, stencils and various other mediums and just be creative. I sometimes wonder why we have ALL the stash when you can make beautiful layouts with just a bit of ink,a sheet of white card and plenty of imagination.

Well that's just what I did a while back in a class with Jow... we played and created two very different single pages.

I feel the need to play with ink some more.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 1 April

The first reveal for April is up on the blog.

I enjoyed playing with this sketch as it allowed me to use lots of photos. I changed the 2ups for a whole bunch of 4ups and yet the page still doesn't look crowded. This is a great way to print those sequence photos when you can't decide on which one to use.

My large photo is a jumbo that I trimmed to a square and then just matted numerous times to make it more of a focal point.

Come play along with Let;s Scrap Sketches and stand a chance to win a gift voucher to your favourite online store.
