With Aaron away this week I've been a busy lady again doing this that and the other... oh and a bit of scrapping too.. hehehe... here's the one I did this morning before leaving for work:

And the there is another one which I worked on yesterday too which I need to finish... had to print an extra photo for it!

The reports I've been getting from Aaron and my folks is that they are having fun... seen lots of animals... lions, giraffe, buck, ostriches, rhino, ground squirrels, etc. Today they were going to go look for the hippos. And there have been a few mishaps too... Aaron fell off his bike on Tuesday and scrapped his left knee and hand... not too bad. Last night he closed the caravan door on his left thumb... ouch. Other than that they are enjoying it... will be home tomorrow again.

Tomorrow I'm going to The Scrapping Studio's Mega-scrap... going to be a FUN day I'm sure. Enjoy your long weekend whatever you do.

Layouts from the long weekend

As I mentioned in a previous post, plus on facebook.... I spent the long weekend scrapping. It was a great relaxing time and I got lots done... 15 layouts in fact. So feast your eyes:

This layout was based on one that was actually made at the ISE but I changed the colours to suit my photos

For this layout I used a page from an album that I did from a class at Retha... we made a whole 12x12 album but I don't scrap by album theme so will use the pages for layouts as I can find them to suit. Also the other class that Retha taught at the ISE in 2007 had a mini booklet on it, so I used that idea on this page too... so where it says "meet the teachers"... you pull that and the pages flip showing more photos and my journalling.

I thought I was being very clever doing this page just with cardstock... and then decided to jazz it up with footprints... madness I tell you!! As each little bit is hand cut and then glued on... I'm sure I must be crazy... but I do like how it turned out.

On this page I cheated a bit... the Lebombo but is the pamphlet we got from the airport and it has all the facts in it... so I just stuck that on and used that as my title!

And so that was me scrapped out over the weekend. There is one more that I did but I can't show that to you till June as I'm using it to enter a competition at Pagemaps... one of the sketch sites that I just love.

Away he went...

Aaron's bags were packed by 9 this morning. Papa & Granny arrived at 10:30 for a quick cuppa tea and by 11 they were all off... caravaning at Krugersdorp Lion Park for the week....sure hope the excitement lasts and doesn't cause too many misbehaviours from one little guy!

For me.... FREEDOM!!! hehehe..... I get to sleep in a bit this week again (Aaron's school is closed for this week in case you're confused!)... and I can continue scrapping... making inroads into my pile of planned layouts.

And an update on Keith in case you're wondering.... he is all better and back to his normal self.

I sooooooooooooooo wanted to go to Scrapbookex's day on 1st May... but firstly couldn't afford the ticket price, secondly I tried to convert my winning free ticket from the "September" convention with no luck and even offered my services as a volunteer with no luck!!! So I decided I would just not bother.

And then about two weeks ago while browsing my blogs, I came across a sidebar mention on Lara Cousin's blog and so followed the link and found out about a MEGA-SCRAP also happening on 1st May... so off I went to find out the details and now I've booked to go with a friend. Talk about interesting....

This past week sure has been an eventful one again in the Sanders household:

- School for four days, with the holiday on Wednesday
- me standing in a queue for an hour and a half to vote in the evening ... had tried at lunch time but took one look at the long queue and decided to go home!
- During the night on Wednesday Keith started with a pain in his left foot... by the morning he could hardly walk- but being a man(!) he decided to go to work anyway!!!!
- Aaron & I got home from school on Thursday and five minutes later who should rock up but Daddy! Yip he had been to the doctor!
- We spent the rest of the afternoon playing chauffeur... taking Keith to Dischem to get meds then to the hospital to drop off blood for some tests and finally to work to get his stuff before going back home.
- Keith and Aaron did homework on the bed... first time Daddy has helped with homework and he enjoyed it.... hope it happens again!
- Friday Keith stayed in bed like a good boy and rested his foot... not much change though.
- Doc phoned to confirm that Keith DEFINATELY has GOUT... not a nice thing to have!
- Spent another afternoon playing chauffeur... back to Dischem for a voltarin injection.... waited for over 1/2 an hour to be told that the sister couldn't authorise the script... so left!
- went to a different pharmacy and were done within 10 minutes!
- I spent the afternoon researching Gout... what to feed the man... and the results are not pleasant!! Just about EVERYTHING we eat at the moment is not recommended... ouch ouch ouch... now what do I cook????
- I spent the evening scrapping (yeah!) and by 10 when Keith was ready for bed he was virtually "dancing"... yip felt a LOT better... wonder drugs!
- Saturday morning Keith was back to his normal (or almost) self... drove himself around to the shops and to take our maid home after her morning's work.
- Me? I've spent a very productive day... scrapping!!! Done two double pages of my time at the ISE in 2007 and based them on two of the layouts that were done at that year's event too... sorry you will have to wait for the pics though till I can scan them on Tuesday.
- And what of Aaron through all this... well he has spent the day playing on the pc... just a normal day in our household.

My lastest creation

Why is it that some layouts go 1-2-3-done and others you can dither and get frustrated on? This is one of those for me... most of the layout was 1-2-3 done but when it came to doing my journalling... boy-oh-boy did I get frustrated!! Between deciding the "how much" to include, to "what format to put it in"... dithered with a matchbook type thing, a brad-ed booklet and finally (after 2 hours!) settled on a few choice details typed on a flat sheet and mounted... ugh! Even my printer was giving me grief... printing skew so I had to print the journaling (in it'a many forms) about 4 times before fixing the printer... so here's the layout....

It was Aaron's birthday party in 2007... a fun day with a slip 'n slide, magic show, pass the parcel and lots of pressies... I managed to combine all that on to one layout... used 36 photos!!! I'm sure that is a record even for me who loves multi-photo layouts!

After all this frustration yesterday to do the journalling (in amongst the voting saga), I decided I just had to scrap another page... so started one at 9:30 last night... just need to do the title and journalling on that too... but you might not get to see it yet as I'm thinking of entering it into PageMaps competion.

It's done...

Eventually I have voted.... yip waited till just about the end of the day... got to the poling station at 6:30pm and joined the back of the queue... which thankfully was inside the school grounds and not down the street like at lunchtime today! And so the big wait began.... brrr it was cold too... but I did have a nice warm coat and woolly hat to keep me warm (note to self: take a cup of coffee with too next time!).

Well the queue moved at a slow but reasonable pace and it took only 1 and a 1/2 hours... yip got there at 6:30 and by 8pm I was "done and dusted"... or is that "marked and sealed"?

And now the bigger wait begins to hear what the outcome of this election will be.

Our church had a day of fasting and prayer yesterday to hand our country back to God... so from my point of view... it's in God's Hands now. Peace to all.

More layouts to show you...

I've spent a lot of time the last week scrapping (as you will know if you've read my status over at facebook!)... anyway, here's the results...

The last FIVE paper layouts for 2005... just have two left which I plan to do digitally as I have no photos for them!

And now I've started on 2007.... I'm just doing random ones here and there out of the 120+ that are planned...

I did another on on Sunday afternoon but must still finish the journalling, so will post that once ready.

Just a side not too.... today is VOTING day here in South Africa. I heard that if you vote and then go past Wimpy, you can get a free cup of coffee... is that an incentive or a bribe? Not too sure as I'm not partial to their coffee anyway... hehee. But as to voting... well I rode down to my voting station at 12 noon... and the queue was out the gate and down the road... just drove past and came home again.... will try later today... I really really don't fancy standing in a long queue!

Oh well, off to scrap the time away...

A productive Easter Holidays

I mentioned on Facebook in my status a few times that I've been "scrapping away"... well HERE'S THE RESULTS..... over 20 pages completed in the last few weeks... admittedly some were just needing titles and journalling, but they are now all done, scanned, uploaded and filed.

Our holiday to Cape Town LAST YEAR! The ticket area flaps up to reveal journalling and under the train there is also an accordian book full of photos.
This was the second page from our day out scrapping... the top little book I filled with photos of all the passengers who went on the train and under the strip text on the right page is another flap which shows more photos from the trip... this was the train we went on to Cullinan for my 40th birthday.

And here's what I've been busy with the last week or so.... catching up on my 2005 year outstanding layouts.... am now down to the final 5.

Tell me please, why do we faff so much with layouts.... this was supposed to be a simple layout about my cousin's wedding and ended up taking me over 3 hours to complete... why? Because I decided to make a suspended frame! I love how it turned out in the end:

In 2007 I attending a Live Scrap Play day and this was one of the pages we made... eventually got to put photos, title and journalling on it:

A good way to hide those private bits that shouldn't be seen... I made vellum water droplets and stuck them strategically:

This was another easy layout... the paper was prep-printed with my title (how easy is that!) and I just added vellum sticker tags (courtesy of my friend Helen in England from years back.... one of the first pressies she sent me after reaching the UK shores... eventually I got to use them):

And then just when you thought it was all done... I did TWO more layouts this afternoon... but will only post those once I've scanned them... sometime later this week.

Tomorrow morning we start back at school (yippee!!! for kid-free time but YUCK for traffic!).
