Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 429

Monday's come around so quickly and I never want to flood with all my layouts, so I try to stagger them and then I forget... opps.  So here is this week's page from me.

My layout today goes with the one that I did last week... used the same range as these two pages are next to each other in my album and the photos relate to the same day and theme.

Scrap Your Scraps - February challenge

My post for today is up on the blog... it's all about creating layouts with title strips.... these are the pages I created for this challenge

On this page I've just added pieces of different strips at an angle and then combined them with stamped aeroplanes and some stickers. I also added one title strip as a border next to my photos.

On this next page I have stuck a variety of title strips in various shades of blue, pale yellow and green together across my page.  Added a strip of photos down the middle and then embellished with stamping, stickers, brads and diamante.

My final layout is a bit more complicated yet fun.  I dug through my pile and sorted out the colours that would best match my photos.  I then lay them in a sort diagonal basket-weave pattern.  Once happy I interwove the strips, cut them shorter where needed and eventually stuck them all down to the background cardstock.  I finished off my page with two photos, more stickers and a little bit of stamping on the edges.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 358

Today's layout is my last one for Nuts About Sketches.... though the blog is not closing, Shawn decided not to carry on the design team... I am sad not to be designing for her anymore. It has been an absolute privilege and pleasure to scrap with Shawn over the last 6+ years... loved every layout that I've made using her sketches.  I know that I will continue to use the NAS sketches in the future.... they are sooooooooo easy to scrap from.

This is my layout that I created for today

I used some leftover paper that I had from another layout and added in a few splats, some stitching and the stickers for the title.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 428

Finding photos to scrap can sometime lead to all sorts of extra adventures... this week (and next week's) layout ended up being just so.... I chose the pics and then found the lovely new Bo Bunny Christmas range that I bought.... well finding this gorgeous paper I didn't want to cover it up, cut it or change too many things... so though the sketch is the starting point, I did in the end do a few of my own things.... and love the result.

This sketch can lend itself to loads of ideas including the project life cards.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 357

I really enjoyed making this layout last week... I actually got to scrap during the afternoon on Wednesday and managed to put this page together pretty quickly.

We had another great sketch to work with... I made a few adjustments on where I put some things.... added my journalling to the top circle, added a subtitle to the bottom of the photos.  The small dots around the big circle are stamped using an inkpad and the backend of a pen.

My created my layout digitally this week.... yip decided to try something new too.... not to sure that I will create too many digital layouts, but now and then it is fun to play with.  I used a free kit from Word Art World.... love her stuff.

The journalling on my page reads as follows:

"If you had to ask me when I became a Christian,
I would say definitely that I've been one all my life.

There has never been a moment when I haven't felt
the presence of God.  I committed my life to Jesus
when I was 6 and He has been my strength ever since.

When I look back on the last 40 years I can definitely
see how God has led me through each decision I've had

trial...  job searching, loosing our first baby, when
Dad died suddenly and I had to carry on with life.

Scrapbook Challenges - Doodles

This week's challenge is up.... all about doodling.... well this was a bit of a challenge for me as I simply don't doodle... or at least haven't in the past.  But thankfully I had doodle paper in my stash and so could quite quickly put a page together.

I also found some free circles from Juliana Michaels of 17turtles.com to cut on my silhouette for an added doodle effect... in the end I really love my page.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 356

I had a stunning weekend of scrapping this past weekend... did a class on Saturday morning, made this page in the afternoon and spent Sunday at a charity event with Michelle van Wyk.... more on that when I finish the layouts "wink, wink!"

For this layout I dug out some photos of the last time it snowed in Joburg... yip it didn't stick to the ground, and we couldn't build a snowman... but still it did snow!

This is the great sketch we used.... I even turned my two jumbo photos on the bottom row into two mini flaps... extra photos underneath.

Today's layout is here.... I decided to highlight the colours in the lego eagle that Aaron got... also did my title from Isaiah 39:40.

The flowers for this page are made with baking paper diecut and then spritzed with caramel ink.

Scrapbook Challenges - Journalling

I made a layout for today's challenge... all about journalling the silly things kids say.... well this layout completed my 2008 album (eventually!).

The typed bit on three of the journalling cards is not too clear in the photo, so here is what it actually says:

“When I’m a daddy, I’ll be 30. Maybe next year sometime.”
“When I’m big, I’m going to drive a bakkie. A Ford and it will be black and have another seat at the back and a cover over and a swish swash at the back too and an extra light.”
“When I’m 30 I’ll be big like you Mommy.”

Funny little bits that Aaron said that I managed to record for prosperity.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 355

Today's reveal is up on the blog.... the sketch called for us to use a LARGE photo... now I don't normally use these but luckily still have a few on hand from our boat trip last year so did a page all about the formal evening on board.

I really seemed to play around with the placement of things this week... rotated the sketch 90 degrees but then still put the banner at the top ... anyway I like the end result!
