Shoestring Scrapbooking - Design Team - Reveal 1

I received my parcel of goodies from Canica on Monday afternoon and since then it's been busy busy busy creating.  I've had lots of fun making all sorts of goodies to show you.

First up is a gift bag.  The templates for this and a few others can be found here.

I used a plain pink cardstock for the base and then added some old leftover stickers just to jazz it up plus a few ribbons for extra effect.

Then I decorated this cute clipboard.

I used the packaging from some Making Memories word stickers for the basis of the clipboard, then painted some wooden letters with pink paint before adding some stickles to them.  I covered a wooden heart with some paper and then decided to edge it in the paint and stickles too.  Out of the same patterned paper I cut the butterfly which I stuck with some foam squares to make it a bit more 3D.  It then stuck lots of flowers and leaves up the edge for extra effect.  To make this a truly usable clipboard, I added a transparency over the background and under the title wording, so that I can write on it and then wipe it off as needed.... clever or what?

Next project was a cup... I saw it as a coffee cup, seeing as I don't drink tea... and I needed some refreshing.  So I painted the background with some blackboard paint, then covered it with some patterned paper, added ribbons and the bare wooden letters, plus some flowers.... a nice little board for writing a shopping list or reminders on.

The last project I worked on this week was a series of words.

Each word is cut all joined together but I decided to decorate the letters separately to give some extra depth.  I also outlined each letter with stickles for some bling and added a flower to each "L" just for a little taste of sophistication.

Nothing fancy at all, but I love how each project came out.  All the supplies for these can be found at Shoestring Scrapbooking.

End of the month

Wow March is now at an end.... where has the month gone?  It's been fairly busy one for me... end of term for Aaron... with cycle tests and all... he did amazingly well and got a 71% average for the term.  I did lots of scrapping, got accepted on Shoestring Scrapbooking's design team and have read lots of books.  Just keeping busy helps I guess.

Today I opened my Google and this is what popped up at me:

Haven't seen one of these for a while so it was fun to see.

2008 progress

With Aaron on school holiday now.... ie staying at Papa & Granny.... I can do some more catch up scrapping and get stuck in without interruptions.  This weekend I managed to do seven layouts all from 2008.

This first layout I used scraps from October Afternoon's Fly A Kite range that we used at last year's Scrapbook Convention.

This layout came together fairly quickly with a few stickers added for embellishment

Aaron made a car out of carboard boxes, piled in his soft toys and packed the boot with food... off he went on a journey and at his destination they all had a picnic.... true imagination!

I did this layout for the Let's Scrap your stash #3 challenge.... we had to use a die cut machine, do some embossing and use ink... I had lots of fun playing with Theresa's cuttlebug machine... maybe I'll get my own one someday.

 

For this next layout I went digging deep in  my stash box.  I found the filmstrip diecut and the negative which I had been keeping for years.  They worked well with the series of "not so good" photos.  I used Jenni Bowlin letters for the title.

This next layout is really very simple... just lots of cardstock circles randomly stuck around the page and stickers for the title.

My last layout of the weekend I based on Stacy Julian's class from the Scrapbook Convention in 2008. It was also my take on "a week in my life" challenge that Ali Edwards did back then too.... I took the photos but never scrapped them till now!  Even more astonishing.... I used the "time" border on this that I've had in my stash since 2005 when I went on my very first Scrapbook Den University weekend.

At the moment I am busy on a creative spree as my Design Team kit arrived from Shoestring Scrapbooking.... I am busy thinking up all sorts to do to show you... so will be posting them soon.

Nuts about Sketches - Week 154

End of the month already... wow!  First time of Grade 4 is over and now it's school holidays. But time doesn't stand still and another week going past means another sketch from Nuts About Sketches.

I loved the circles in the sketch and chose background paper specially for this layout.  I played on the colours to tie it all together.

This is a very versatile sketch.... as you will see from the Design Team's layout... check them out on the blog.

A new sketch site

I love to scrap with sketches... as you probably know!.... and I just read today that Helen Tilbury is a design team member at a brand new sketch site... called Once Upon A Sketch.  How awesome is that.

Long weekend scrapping

I did LOTS of scrapping over the past long weekend.... managed to do my four pages for my design team commitment to Nuts About Sketches... so you will only get to see them in April.  These are the rest of what I did (all from 2008).

This next page I did for the Scrap your Stash Challenge #2 at Let's Scrap.... we had to use at least 5 brads, 3 patterned papers and 3 stamps.... Well I used that and then some!

The photos on this next page were all taken on my cell phone.... hence the very bad quality.... but it was just a quick photo opportunity that I couldn't miss... especially as since this the jungle gym has been taken down and replaced with a plastic one... not nearly as exciting.

Making a small dent into my stash and also slowly making inroads into my layout a day goal... still am behind a bit, but will hopefully catch up over the next two weeks as it is school holidays from tomorrow.... ie mommy holiday when Aaron goes to Papa & Granny from Sunday.

For this challenge we had to use punches, 2 things metal (not brads/eyelets), 2 ribbons of different colour & length.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 153

This week's sketch is up... but with yesterday being a public holiday in South Africa, I just didn't get near my pc to upload... so here it is now:

For my layout I did a bit of paper piecing too.... this is Aaron's birthday party in 2009 - he had a pirate party.

Super excited

I've been holding my breath since last week just waiting to let the cat out the bag... and now it is official so I can..... I made the Design Team for Shoestring Scrapbooking..... super super excited.... can't wait to start playing with my new goodies when they arrive.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 152

Here is this week's sketch from Nuts About Sketches.

This was Casual Day in 2009... I used the sticker from the day as one of the embellishments.  Just love this monster paper by Sassafrass and thought it was a perfect enhancement for the theme of the day.  And if you look closely, you will see I am wearing a skirt.... the them was to wear something you don't usually wear.... well having worn pants every day since Aaron was a baby I thought that a skirt was the perfect outfit for the day!.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 151

Wow the first week of the new term has already arrived.... and the design team at Nuts About Sketches has pulled out all the stops to work with this great sketch.

I had lots of fun putting mine together too....

There is paper pieceing and even puff paint... lots of different elements on such an easy layout.

I bet you're sick of me saying it....

but how can I NOT say it when it's exactly what happened?  ..... and what is it, you ask?  Well............

I WON AGAIN!

This time I've won a book on The Book Club Blog.... super excited to receive my prize in the mail as I've been hunting high and low for another book by this author.

February scrapping

I've just gone through my blog and noticed that I haven't shared with you all the layouts I've scrapped over the last two months.... so thought I'd do a sort of catch up post quickly.
