Sketches: Creatively Yours... layout 11

This is the last layout for the month of July..... but not the last by any means for me or the team.... check out the wonderful creations done.

lengthy layout

This layout took me TWO weeks to finish! I started it on Friday the 16th when my dear friend Judi came to scrap... it took me a while to put in all the brads and I just seemed to faff  a lot... maybe it was too much chatting and making supper that didn't get it finished!  And to end it off I "knew" I had a receipt that I thought I could use on the layout.  So I spent Saturday and Sunday sorting out my "filing".... and guess what.... no receipt!  But I did find a pamphlet about the resort and so last night I decided, what the heck and finished the layout.  So here it is now to show you...

as a ps - this layout was based on a Nuts about sketches sketch.... week 88.  The paper is from Tracy Schimper's Art from the heart collection.

Design team applications

I keep applying to various design teams... this month it's been more so than usually!  The ones I've applied to are:

1. American Crafts
- had to submit two layouts, so I chose two of my recent ones that I have used their product on.  Plus I had to make a card... did a Christmas one.... and an off-the-page item... so I decorated my "accounts" file

2. Pebbles Inc
 - again I used two previous layouts for this that used their product extensively... for the main reason that I don't actually have current ranges in my stash :(

3. BoBunny
 - for this one I managed to create two layouts with the newest range of papers that I had in my stash... and boy and I'm happy with how they turned out

4. Sketchalicious
- this is a new sketch blog that is launching in August... it's in Italian but they are open to all scrappers applying.  We had to create a layout using their sketch... I simply love how mine turned out!

5. Nuts about sketches
- I was part of this team last year and loved it sooooooooooo much that I couldn't wait to re-apply.  Again I had to create a layout based on a specific sketch.

And so I await the email to say "YES" or "NO"... will keep you posted!

Ice-cream

Okay maybe I'm crazy to be posting this today seeing as it's chilly and overcast... but it's on my mind.

We eat lots of ice-cream at home but I haven't bought any since about April as the price has just gone up through the roof .... now over R36 for a 2litre tub!!!  So today I was reading Kevin & Amanda's blog and what is she discussing???  How to make ice-cream... (with a giveaway)....

I think I need to add some of the ingredients to my shopping list and make some ice-cream this weekend.... my little boy would really be happy then!

Scrap-a-tale Challenge July

I decided again to take the plunge and participate in the challenge at Scrap-A-Tale this month.  They provided a sketch and this is the layout I created based on it:

I'm very chuffed with myself for actually getting out my paint and brush and using them on this page... I don't usually like to "mess".  I really like how this layout came out.... nice and simple yet effective.

The end of a holiday

Our long school holiday has come to an end... boy a few weeks back we were all so worried as to how we were going to keep the kids busy for 4/5 weeks... and now it's back to school next week Tuesday!!  Well I can say that it's been a fun holiday for Aaron... he played with friends, went to holiday club and spent two weeks with Papa & Granny.  This weekend we are all going to Roodeplat Dam (just north of Pretoria) for some lovely relaxing family time (with a bit of world cup watching thrown in too I expect!).

Well as per normal when Aaron is away I try and get some major scrapbooking done.... but as stated in one of my previous posts, that simply didn't seem to happen this time around... till this last week!  I feel soooooooooooo much better now that I managed to do .... wait for it... TEN pages since Saturday.  And they're great pages too, even if I say so myself!  Unfortunately for you, I can't show you them all yet as some are for my design team obligation for this month and one is a competition that I'm entering... but here are the rest:

When I attended the MegaScrap Day in May I won a series of free scrap lessons at Scrapping Studio, so I went for my first on on Saturday and created this stunning page:

The rightside page has two flaps on it which open to reveal some more photos and my journalling.  All the paper on this page is from Fabscraps.

Then on Sunday I scrapped this gorgeous page - again lots of flaps for more photos:

I won the notes for this from Homespun Scrapbooking a few months ago just for commenting on her blog!

And then there are these few layouts from 2008

And the last one I can show you is for the July challenge at In2Crafts

The challenge is about Memories and so I scrapped my childhood memory of the Hoopoe's arrival announcing winter.  This layout is a scraplift from Kelly Goree.

So that's that for this week's scrapping and the holiday... next week it is back to the normal early morning routine (sigh!).
