M.I.A

Just in case you wondering where I am.... I'm home sick in bed! Yip that achy feeling I had last week turned into a nagging cough by Saturday and then on Sunday I really felt yuck! Went to the doc on Monday and he diagnosed Sinusitus and Pharyngitus... ie... snotty nose, cough and no voice! Well I'm now resting, taking my pills and getting better so not sure when I will be around to do my usual commenting on my friends' blogs or even get to read them. Hopefully before the weekend.

It's done...

Well after a bit of dithering about trying to find a new template or design my own I decided to go for the template... and rather like this "grungy" one... mainly because it's still blue... my favourite colour. Added in the brown colour for a hint of chocolate... yummy... reckon I best go find myself some to munch now as a reward.

The plan has begun...

I turn 40 in less than three months (see my ticker to keep track!) and as I want to take a train ride for my birthday with ALL my friends and family I thought I had better get planning asap. So feelers have been put out to the train people (www.friendsoftherail.com) to find out the prices and now I've sent an email to my friends and family to let them know so that we can book the date and finalise numbers. You see this is the problem when you have a birthday at the end of November... people get busy with exams, Christmas parties and the like so I thought I'd get in early and book them up... hehe. So if you didn't get an invite and really want to join me... comment here and I'll make sure to include you (and apologies if I missed you!).

So now the count down is on and the party can begin soon soon.

The Next Survivor Series

Well we are busy watching Survivor at home now (Survivor Fiji) and I'm busy planning a "Scrap Survivor" for my scrapbooking friends and then I got this email (for about the 5th time!) so thought I would share it with you all...

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES
Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids each for six weeks.
  • Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes.
  • There is no fast food.
  • Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean, correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry, and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money.
  • In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.
  • Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and relatives, and send cards out on time--no emailing.
  • Each man must also take each child to a doctor's appointment, a dentist appointment and a haircut appointment.
  • He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the emergency department of a hospital.
  • He must also make biscuits or cakes for a social function.
  • Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house, planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times.
  • The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and all chores are done.
  • The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, adorn himself with jewellery, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails polished and eyebrows groomed.
  • During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings but never once complain or slow down from other duties.
  • They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting.
  • They will need to read a book to the kids each night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and comb their hair by 8:00 am.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will be required to know all of the following information:

  • each child's birthday,
  • height,
  • weight,
  • shoe size,
  • clothes size
  • and doctor's name.
  • Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of labour,
  • each child's favourite colour,
  • middle name,
  • favourite snack,
  • favourite song,
  • favourite drink,
  • favourite toy,
  • biggest fear
  • and what they want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance.

The last man wins only if...he still has enough energy to be intimate with his spouse at a moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right To be called Mum!

After you get done laughing, send this to as many females as you think will get a laugh out of it and as many men as you think can handle it! Just don't send it back to me.... I'm going to bed.

Transformation...

I said I would show you the photos of my transformation... well I went from this......

To This....

The result... a happier me! At least where my hair is concerned... hehehe

SO that is stage 1 of my transformation complete... stage 2 (my blog) is in the process but going S-L-O-W-L-Y!

My style

I read about a style quizz... mainly for decorating... so decided "what the heck" and went to take the survey. And I just love my new style name.... YUMMY MUMMY.

In summary this is what it said about my decorating style....

You're the intuitive home-maker, par excellence - in fact, you've probably dreamed of having a family home for as long as you can remember. The look is quintessentially feminine: cool, pretty colours; layered patterns and textures; and flawless attention to every little detail. You have a true 'home', full of love, laughter and warmth - and often the reassuring aroma of home-baked goodies.

Now the Home-Baked goodies is definately true... I baked yesterday... hehehe. Some of the other things could be up for debate! But I really did just like this whole idea.

So now if you want to see where your style lies... go take the quiz... http://mydeco.com/

My thought for today...

If you feel like doing some work, sit down and wait. The feeling will go away.

Get ready for....

We've had our thinking caps on and decided it's time... for what you might ask... well it's time for.....

SCRAP SURVIVOR

Who's game??? At the moment I'm just putting out feelers to see who would be keen. We are looking at a date in October/November and depending on how many of us want to do it depends on the venue.... my house is on offer if we can all fit.

The idea behind this is....
a) It's my 40th birthday in November and I want to celebrate
b) It was Judi's 40th birthday and we should to celebrate
c) It's Theresa's 40th birthday in October and why not celebrate
d) okay just think of an excuse and that's why.

Now not to put you off but just to add some enticement... the day will consist of various challenges (all scrapping related) and lots of laughter and of course chocolate! SO put your thinking caps on and let me know that you are keen to join in! Also let your other scrapping friends know (ie pass this on) so that we can have a REALLY fun day together.

More info to follow once I know who is interested!

now what....

Well it's been a really tough week. Work has been up and down (and is now going to be hectic for a while) and then we also had Granny's funeral on Thursday. That all went off well and it was a good day spent remembering her. But now life goes on and I have to pick myself up and go forward.

Well one nice thing is hearing Aaron laugh... he is busy watching "The Wild" and chuckling away... always gets a good laugh out of him.

So guess it's onwards and upwards from here on out... change is acoming ... I plan to update/change my blog template shortly so keep your eyes peeled.

I did change my hair a week ago... keep thinking about the praying mantis in Bugs Life.. Manny saying "Transformation! Transformation!" and seeing myself transformed... from straggly brown hair to highlights and cut in a bob.... unfortunately the photos I had Aaron take of me didn't last... they wouldn't download off my camera so I can't even show you... might manage to scrounge one out and put up soon.... but TRANSFORMATION is what it's all about.

Okay so now I've waffled a lot about nothing and you've read it... hehehehe... so let's see where to next!

A sad day indeed...

I just heard this morning from my father that my Granny has died.

Francina Ross was born on 18 October 1918 and died on 08 August 2008, just short of turning 90.

She was daughter, sister, wife, mother, Granny and Great-Granny and will be sorely missed by all her family. Rest in peace now Granny and give Grandpa a big hug from all of us when you see him.

This was a scrap layout I did a few years back to celebrate the relationship between Aaron and his Great-Granny.

Now I need to do an update I reckon.

Feeling ouch...

We went ice skating yesterday to celebrate my friend Judi's son's 11th birthday... had an absolute ball.. and Aaron even managed to get his balance and skate a bit... okay by holding my hand and me doing most of the work... but we got around. And then disaster struck... hehehe... we were doing soooooooo well... on our second loop around when someone zoomed past us and gave Aaron a bit of a fright so he wobbled, grabbed hold of me and we both went down. Thank goodness all Aaron got was a fright but I landed quite hard on my left knee and then my chin connected the ice with a big bang... send stars through my head... ouch ouch ouch!!! And ofcourse once I'm down I can't get up... a nice mommy with her son eventually stopped and helped me up (where were all the officials???). Well I limped off.... sopping wet... and that was then end of our skating for the day... would definately have gone again but I was just too sore.

And then this morning I woke still feeling sore so Keith took Aaron to school and I have sat working with my leg up... feel much better now so guess I can drive to go fetch Aaron from school.

Another piece of news just to share... I enetered a scrapping competition over the weekend... but got emlinated on the first round... bummer... but it was my own fault for not reading the rules correctly.. hehehe. Anyway here is the layout that I did for http://www.makingmemoriesforyou.org/ Simplicity Or Embellishment Contest

Okay that's me for now... more news to follow on another day.
