Let's Scrap Sketches - 15 March

It's time for our next sketch at Let's Scrap and I had fun playing with this one:

Instead of using lots of pattern papers and die cutting hexagons (or stars!) I decided to play a little with some product. I was given a bottle of glitter paste in my Penelope Dee prize pack so started with that... adding stars through a Jowilna Inspired Stencil.

Then I decided I wanted to do red... well as I didn't have any glitter paste I made my own. I added some gloss texture paste to a tub and then two small packets of red glitter... stirred and mixed it all together. It doesn't look like much in the tub but once applied and dried the red really came to life. I was super chuffed.

Lastly I added a few subtle white stars with embossing paste so they're a little fluffy. Once all these bits were dry I added my photos.

I am also entering this layout for the Scrapbook Generation's Light Camera Action online crop that happened at the end of February. I got inspired by the one challenge which was to added a border of stars in a straight line.

The first week of May saw a huge online crop happening on facebook run by Scrapbook Generation. I played most of the games during that week and then planned all my layouts for completion during the month... there were 16 layout challenges and these are what I have managed to complete:

iNSD with The Cut Shoppe

The 5th of May was {inter}National Scrapbooking Day and lots of blogs were having online challenges and crops. I decided to try my had at a few but then scaled down and only did one. I ran out of time really. Anyway here's my entries for the challenges held by The Cut Shoppe:

I used the polaroid cutfilefor this and backed it with lots and lots of scraps from Simple Stories. It all got inspired by a journal card on the Simple Stories paper which I ended up cutting out for the bottom corner. This is also for a product challenge at Scrapbook Generations.

It might not show up tooo well in this photo but I stitched a straight line through each row of hearts to hold them down. I then added some pink and red ink before stamping my quote and added the inked chipboard title. I used a few hearts from the center of the cutfile as well and then added some bling.

I loved the title cutfile and decided that bunny pics would be perfect for this. I also used the colour scheme from the challenge at Scrapbook Generations.

I started with the sketch and celebrate challenge for Sketch N Scrap for my page and then added the challenge from Scrapbook Generation where I had to used certain products. Managed to tick all the boxes on this one. For the cutfile challenge, I offset the words to make a matt. I inked the actual words with Brilliance silver ink.

I am happy that I managed to get these layouts done. It also got me to use some of my stash and play a bit with my curio machine and cutfiles.

As you can see, I am also entering some of these layouts in other challenges at Sketch N Scrap and Scrapbook Generations as well. Posts about those challenges will be coming up towards the end of the month. It's going to be a busy scrapping month ahead!

Scrapbook Generation - Life is a circus crop

At the end of February there was a weekend online Crop for Scrapbook Generations. I made a good attempt at getting the layout challenges completed during March and uploaded them all before we went away last Friday. I just never had time to share them here till now:

Cotton Candy Recipe: - had to use 6x6 papers and I used some from the Lady Pattern Paper cards range for my page.

One-Page Sketch:

Color Challenge: Under the Big Top - We had to use Red, Black, White and Gold. (this is based on a Jowilna original layout)

Papercraft: Project Life type layout: (this is based on a Jowilna original layout)

Star of the Show: make stars and circles the highlight of the page (based on a Jowilna original)

I am sure happy to have been able to do all these layouts for this online crop (and also combine them with some other)... it gets a few more layouts ticked off my to-do list. Now it's back to DT scrapping for the next few weeks.

Hexagons galore

I decided this month to try my hand at the latest Kaisercraft challenge from their blog... to create a layout with hexagons.

I used an older collection for my layout...Forget-Me-Not. All the small hexagons, the title and the tags are from the collectables pack.

I am also entering this layout in the Sketch N Scrap bonus challenge where we needed to use chipboard elements and thread (I stitched all around the hexagons). Plus this is my single page for one of the Scrapbook Generation's Life Is A Circus crop challenges. Phew nice to be able to multitask on a page.

Scrapbook Generation Fall Crop

I tried to participate in the last two Fall Crops run on Facebook by Scrapbook Generation, but unfortunately I didn't get too many layouts done... in fact only one. Shucks. October wasn't a very good month scrap-wise.

I typed up the recipe and printed it out in place of the one photo on the page. Then added in a couple of diecut pineapples and made another slightly larger one. Finished off the page with a piece of ribbon, buttons and bling.

I am hoping to get lots more scrapping done in the next few weeks (loads of DT commitments) and also want to get some more photos ready for printing in anticipation of some sales coming at the end of November. Best I get cracking.

Catch-up on my scrapping

I did a whole host of scrapping in August and a few pages in September but quite a lot of them needed photos. I then spied a special on at Q-Photo at the end of September (thanks to Michelle van Wyk sharing it on facebook) and managed to get some photos printed so have now gotten my layouts completed.... ie I eventually got my PhD (Pages Half Done!) hehe.

Whilst playing with this collection for ScrapPlezier, I decided I loved it so much that I had to use it again and so did a sketch from Scrapbook Generations

During September I took part in the "back to school" online crop from Sketch 'n Scrap and managed to complete this layout for their one challenge.

Lastly I finished scrapping my 2011 album by finding a photo to fill in the space that I had. This layout was inspired from one I saw on pinterest.

Now that I am more or less up to date with sharing, best I get making again... got quite a few other layouts planned now that I have photos printed.

Scrapbook Generation - Candyland Crop

I spent a good portion of May doing the online crop with Scrapbook Generation and their Candyland crop which was run for National Scrapbook Day on 6th May... well actually it was a week worth of challenges but we had till the end of May to do them. Here's a few of the pages I made for the challenges:

I didn't manage to do all the challenges this month... but having done 7 of the 16 is not too bad, plus I took part in most of the games during the crop too. May has been a very good scrapping month.

Sketch n Scrap Birthday Scrapping

I am part of the Sketch n Scrap group on Facebook. They are celebrating their 5th birthday this month with sketches and challenges all month long. Well I decided to do a few and this is the results.

The sketch for this has a wreath on it... so I used a cut file and then added some twine for a few more circles.

I did their monthly sketch for May and also combined with a challenge for Scrapbook Generations. On this page I used some of my new acquired Kaisercraft stash (Thanks Jeaunes)

It was good to get two layouts done and being able to combine them for a few challenges.

Monochromatic love

I took part in the online crop from Scrapbook Generations during the first week of May... still have the whole month to get my layouts done,but this one I just had to share now.

The challenge was to do a mono-chromatic layout. Well I turned to my good old faithful Lady Pattern Paper for this one and then used the new sketch from Creative Scrappers. I simple adore how my page turned out.

I turned the sketch so that it would suit my photo better. I then found some leftover stamped and inked flowers that matched. I also punched a few hearts and added a bit of stitching and bling scattered around.

Creative scrapping at it's simplest and best!

Single pages

Over the Easter weekend I managed to have a few days of dedicated scrap time. I decided to do a few single pages for submission to the next issue of Scrap Affairs... not holding my breathe that they will get picked, but I did manage to get a few more done on my layout-a-day goal so that is a plus anyway.

This first page I also did for a challenge at Scrapbook Generations... a layout using strips for the background. I used pieces from 2 Celebr8 ranges, Hello and Let's Chat.

These next three layouts are all using parts of scraps and stash...so nice to dig through my stash and find goodies to use instead of just horde.

So there you have it... some more pages done and photos scrapped. Now I have a whole loooonnnngggggg weekend ahead with time to do a whole bunch more scrapping. Much needed therapy.

South African National Scrapbooking Day layouts

At the end of January South Africa had our first official NSD day....though I didn't go to an official event, I still did scrap with friends at Shortcut Crafts. I managed to scrap three complete layouts and another two that still needed photos, which I have now done so I can showcase all my pages.

This first layout was based on a Scrapbook Generation's sketch

This next layout is made using Lady Pattern Paper... I love the blue. These papers were perfect for my niece's wedding. This layout also has two booklets with lots more photos in them. This page was originally designed by Scrapbook n Things.

For this one, I used new Simple Stories New Year's papers for this page.... not too often I get to used this sort of themed paper.

Next up is another layout using a sketch from Scrapbook Generations.... lots of photos on this one.

An lastly was the layout we received on the day as a freebie... a gorgeous simple page with Lady Pattern Paper, designed by Jowilna.

Maybe next year I will actually go to the event, otherwise I will just scrap lots and lots.
