NSD month at Let's Scrap

Let's Scrap host a month of challenges in May to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day.  I had high hopes of completing a few of the challenges, BUT life (and work) got in the way and so far I've only been able to do one page.

This was for the menu challenge.... we had to pick from a menu and submit it, and then a week later we were told what those items meant and had to scrap a page... this is my menu:

Drink: Coffee - Warm earthy colors
I used coffee brown and then added in maroon and the stripe paper has teal and yellow in it too.

Appetizers: French onion soup -  Use bits of triangles and/or long narrow strips
I used triangles to create the banner and used added two long strips (stripes and check)

Entree: Shrimp scampi – Include something that puffs up off the page.
I used some old prima flowers that I crumpled and then glued in layers to represent the flowers
Also gathered (by hand!) some ribbon which I stuck on the banner.

Side dish: Onion rings – embossing
I ran the red card and green cardstock through my cuttlebug to emboss them with flowers before cutting out the triangles and arrow

Bread
Garlic rolls – use LS sketch May ‘10.  5-12-10

Dessert: Journalling
My journalling is handwritten around the long red pattern paper - tells how hubby surprised me with these flowers on valentine's day.

I was very happy with my menu choice and love how my layout came out.  Others got things like ovals.... at first I thought I had them too but was thankful I didn't!

I've been going through my list of layouts that I keep to see what layouts I have posted and what not... and boy are you in for a treat.... here are layouts that I created last year but as yet never showed:

This layout I created for a challenge early last year but for some reason never did actually post

The right hand side page is actually two flaps that open up down the middle and shows lots more photos

In June last year I did a class at the Scrapping Studio and this is the page I created:

The three photos at the top of the right hand page are joined on one mat and lift up to reveal more photos and journalling.

I saw a page on the Scrap Girls newsletter in December and just knew I wanted to make a page like it... so within days of us putting up our tree last year, this page came together

In July last year I went to the Your Family Expo and ran in to my friend Carolyn from The Scrapbook Factory Shop.... she kindly gave me this kit so that I could figure out how to use some of the Tim Holtz products... this page was just perfect for our piano recital photos from last year.

This next page is actually one that was taught at the Scrapbook Convention a few years back... I was a volunteer and got the kits but never did much with them... so catching up a bit now.

I just found out...

that I was one of the lucky winners on the Let's Scrap Blog Hop.... so making all 50 cards and then hopping to 50 different blogs, definitely paid off!! yippee.

Leap around the world with Let's Scrap

As I'm sure many of you have gathered from reading my blog, I don't make toooooooo many cards. BUT then along comes a challenge like the "Leap Around the World" blog hop from Let's Scrap.

I've just spent the last three days creating 50 cards..... yes FIFTY!!!!  Well I'm pretty chuffed with them all so here they are in summary... you can see all my cards in my album at Let's Scrap.

2008 progress

With Aaron on school holiday now.... ie staying at Papa & Granny.... I can do some more catch up scrapping and get stuck in without interruptions.  This weekend I managed to do seven layouts all from 2008.

This first layout I used scraps from October Afternoon's Fly A Kite range that we used at last year's Scrapbook Convention.

This layout came together fairly quickly with a few stickers added for embellishment

Aaron made a car out of carboard boxes, piled in his soft toys and packed the boot with food... off he went on a journey and at his destination they all had a picnic.... true imagination!

I did this layout for the Let's Scrap your stash #3 challenge.... we had to use a die cut machine, do some embossing and use ink... I had lots of fun playing with Theresa's cuttlebug machine... maybe I'll get my own one someday.

 

For this next layout I went digging deep in  my stash box.  I found the filmstrip diecut and the negative which I had been keeping for years.  They worked well with the series of "not so good" photos.  I used Jenni Bowlin letters for the title.

This next layout is really very simple... just lots of cardstock circles randomly stuck around the page and stickers for the title.

My last layout of the weekend I based on Stacy Julian's class from the Scrapbook Convention in 2008. It was also my take on "a week in my life" challenge that Ali Edwards did back then too.... I took the photos but never scrapped them till now!  Even more astonishing.... I used the "time" border on this that I've had in my stash since 2005 when I went on my very first Scrapbook Den University weekend.

At the moment I am busy on a creative spree as my Design Team kit arrived from Shoestring Scrapbooking.... I am busy thinking up all sorts to do to show you... so will be posting them soon.

Long weekend scrapping

I did LOTS of scrapping over the past long weekend.... managed to do my four pages for my design team commitment to Nuts About Sketches... so you will only get to see them in April.  These are the rest of what I did (all from 2008).

This next page I did for the Scrap your Stash Challenge #2 at Let's Scrap.... we had to use at least 5 brads, 3 patterned papers and 3 stamps.... Well I used that and then some!

The photos on this next page were all taken on my cell phone.... hence the very bad quality.... but it was just a quick photo opportunity that I couldn't miss... especially as since this the jungle gym has been taken down and replaced with a plastic one... not nearly as exciting.

Making a small dent into my stash and also slowly making inroads into my layout a day goal... still am behind a bit, but will hopefully catch up over the next two weeks as it is school holidays from tomorrow.... ie mommy holiday when Aaron goes to Papa & Granny from Sunday.

For this challenge we had to use punches, 2 things metal (not brads/eyelets), 2 ribbons of different colour & length.

Happy dance time

This is me.... happy happy happy this morning.... I found our today that I won on the Let's Scrap Resolution blog hop... and not just once but TWICE.... soooooooooo am very happy.  I won the word scrabble challenge and also the draw for Resolution #15.  Am sooooooooooooooooo chuffed!  All my hard work over the last few weeks has paid off.

I spent this weekend doing my last six challenges for the Let's Scrap blog hop.... it's been lots of fun.

RESOLUTION #3 - use three patterned papers and some stitching

RESOLUTION #4 - create a layout that contains a list

RESOLUTION #5 - don't open anything new

RESOLUTION #6 - make a valentines card

RESOLUTION #14 - Use 1x lace/ribbon, 2x patterned paper, 3x flowers, 4x bling/gems

RESOLUTION #15 - Use colours teal, yellow and grey/silver and the word HAPPY

Phew now I'm all done... think I will relax a bit in the week ahead.

ps - I photographed all these pages so they are not quite as clear as normal... will only be scanning them tomorrow and might reupload them then.

Scrapping some resolutions

The Let's Scrap blog hop is on and I decided to try my hand at completing some of the resolutions (what they are calling challenges for this blog hop)... For each resolution we had to use a Let's Scrap sketch and then some form of challenge.... these are what I've managed to do so far...
