Scrapkits catchup

I have been plowing my way through my past Scrapkits pages and slowly putting them together.  Only just realised that I haven't shown any here since last year... so be prepared... here they all are:

This page I used my own papers to tie in with the theme... very rustic.  It's all about a weekend we spent at Mabalingwe.

This is another page where I used my own stash to put it together.... I did photos of the cousins all playing together on our Christmas holiday from 2010.

Then for Aaron's caravan holiday he had with Papa & Granny last year July, I used a few kits to record the many memories... this first one is a summary of the week away and included the things he got up too.

This page I again used my own stash and some of the printouts provided and put together a story about a day trip they took to see the different sites.

Then it's on to my birthday from last year.... using my own stash I put together this fun page.  To keep with the theme I added in some chipboard cups and cake.

In January I took Aaron to SciBono... he LOVED it... and this kit was just a perfect backdrop to showcase all his activities.... The one change I made to it was adding the dinosaur stamp to it.

This kit was one that I had wanted to do for ages... and with Aaron and Gemma going to the Bokkie Park in January I got just the right mix of "farm" pics to put it together.

Mom wanted some new updated Grandkids pics so after a very impromptu and uncooperative one... I decided to showcase them on this page... I just changed the one background paper to tie in a bit better with my colours (and because I want to use the one from the kit on a different page... hehehe).

When I saw this page in our February kit I knew straight away what pics to use for it... us doing the toboganning in Cape Town.. the page came together 1-2-3... love it!!

Last week Wednesday (the public holiday) I spent it scrapping with a dear friend and put together three different kits... this one is about a birthday party Aaron went to in 2010

On this one I changed it up and used FabScraps papers

and for this one I used mainly green patterned papers with a few yellow accents.  I also turned the one photo into a little booklet.

I still have two more kits which are just needing their journalling done on them, so they will be coming soon.  And then of course there must still be about 6/7 more that need to be done... just waiting for the perfect photos before I put them together.

Googling again

Another surprise in Google this morning... celebrating an Architect's birthday.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch #288

Another new week and another new sketch is up at Scrapbook Challenges.

I did the double layout this time around.. with a few twists too.

Firstly I attempted to do some misting on the background... this was very hit and miss as the nossle on the bottle kept misbehaving... so not my most successful attempt at this.  Secondly I turned the circles on the sketch into some puddly-sort of shapes and on the right side page I turned it into a flap... there are more photos and journalling under there.  I also added the cutest little guy in paper piecing to the page.

Check out the forum to see what the rest of the design team did and while there, why not join in some of the challenges going on.

A huge big thank you to everyone who voted for me last week in the March Madness.  Unfortunately I didn't make it through (by 3 votes!) but I did have fun doing the challenge.

Scrapbook Challenges - March Madness - Round One

The challenge for round one was posted on Saturday... and boy oh boy did it take some thinking to put my page together for it.  We were giving a list of items to choose from using the first 10 letters of our names.  Here is what I came up with...

My list was as follows:
Chipboard – title letters & flower tag
Acrylic paint – White paint borders on photos
Twine – on tags
Heart – red felt
Yellow - letters

Stitching – on heart and blue/green strips
Acrylic paint – orange letters & tag
Neon – date is written in neon orange (just above blue square with heart), plus yellow photo mat
Decorative edge – blue strip
Envelope – pink one at the top with my journalling in it

I used a sketch from Creative Scrappers (#192) for my inspiration.

I am very chuffed with my page but when I see Lee-Anne's one, whom I'm up against, my knees start to tremble.

Now I need your vote please.... head over to the forum and find this thread.... then once the poll is up (sometime on Wednesday... and only for 24 hours!), click for CATHY.  The more votes I get the longer I stay in the game.

AND... if you are up to the challenge... you can also make a layout and submit it.... there are awesome weekly prizes up for grabs.  So come and play along.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 287

The new weekly sketch is up at Scrapbook Challenges... and there is once again a choice between single and double:

I really like the double option but as I had already planned to only do singles this month I went with the single option with a few variations.... I rotated and flipped the sketch and then added in a few more pics.

I used some 7Gypsies papers for this page... the muted colours just gelled so nicely with the photos.  My title is made up of a few different fonts... also a fun technique that I think I must do more often.  I even handmade the flowers.

Head over to the forum to see what the rest of the design team has done this week.

While there, check out what else is happening: I am on duty this week doing the chat, blog and gallery gems... so lots to see.  PLUS don't forget about the March Madness going on.... bracket selection is due tomorrow and our first challenges on Wednesday.... I will need your votes to go through to the next round.

Happy St Patrick's Day

I found this Google doodle on the uk site... not nearly as much green as I would have thought when you hear about the Irish!  But fun nevertheless.

Hope your day has been filled with the luck of the Irish and you find your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow... before the leprechauns steal it all away.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 285

Wow it's a new month already, and being early in the week that must mean that a new sketch is up at Scrapbook Challenges.  This week you have a great sketch, again in single or double format.

I chose to do the single layout and turned to my FabScraps papers again for this page and even created some flowers for it too.

Head over to the forum to check out the rest of the team's layouts this week.  While you are there you can also check out my Handmade challenge that is running all month.

I am also entering this layout in the FabScraps challenge over at Scrap Africa.

I just found out...

that I was one of the lucky winners on the Let's Scrap Blog Hop.... so making all 50 cards and then hopping to 50 different blogs, definitely paid off!! yippee.

This is the card I made that won my the lucky prize (which you can see over at Eniko's Playhouse).

CANSA Shavathon

It's CANSA Shavathon time again! Which means that you can shave or spray your head for a R50 donation (children under 12 - R25 donation) and help support cancer survivors! Aaron and I decided to join the cause today at Clearwater Mall.

This is us before we took the plunge:

And then we went and did the deed:

All shorn off:

Now it's on to the colouring.  Aaron chose to go BRIGHT ORANGE and I did blue polka dots.

Now we are home and brightly coloured.
Keith is definitely not too sure about this... I don't think he want's to be seen in public with either of us at the moment... hehehehe. But hey - the colour will wash out and our hair will grow. It's all for a good cause.

Scrapbook Challenges - March Madness

The month of March is slowly going to develop it's own sense of madness over at Scrapbook Challenges

At present I have no idea what's install for me... quivering in my boots almost.  What I will need from you from what I gather is voting support.  Keep your eyes on my blog and I will let you know as I know more.

How it works:
The DT will be paired off in twos competing against each other every week. We will have 4 rounds...
Sweet 16
Elite 8
Final 4
Then a championship round (Last 2 scrapping)

Our "Challenges" will be issued on Saturdays and we will have 4 days to complete the round and voting will take place Wednesday - Friday. Those moving on will be announced on the following Saturday with the new challenge.

How the members will be involved:
On March 11th we will hold a bracket drawing. There will be a sheet that members can pick the weekly winners and who they think will win the whole thing. Those that correctly pick will be entered to win our grand prize.

So join us at Scrapbook Challenges for some added fun and madness this month.

Scrapbook n Things - Challenge 2

So if you are in the vicinity of the shop, please pop in over the next two week and give me your vote.

In need of stash?

Here is a pic of a smidgen of it:
