Simply PL - Telephone Scrapping

This weekend in the Simply Project Life group on facebook they're having a telephone scrap... ie someone posts a layout and the person gets inspired and posts, and so on. Well after two days I decided to jump in and do a page too.

I used Dunia Designs' ThisIsMay kit.

These simple quick challenges are always fun to do (even when feeling rather snotty!)

Digital Scrapbooking Day at Simply Project Life

As well as WCMD this past weekend, Saturday was Digital Scrapbooking Day (or DSD for short). As I am keen to get going with my digi layouts I gave myself the challenge of completing as many challenges out there as I could. I found challenges from Simply Project Life, Gingerscrap, The Digital Press and The LilyPad. I will share layouts for each site in it's own post. So here's the first installement.

Simply Project Life and their sister group App Scrappers - Project Life and Beyond hosted an "App Scrap Across America" event on Saturday with online challenges for those of us who couldn't make it. There were 11 challenges in total and I managed to complete 6 by "bedtime on Sunday" (which was the stated deadline but would have been 6 Monday morning and I wasn't staying up all night to scrap!)

There were a few more that I was keen on trying but really just ran out of omph. I might just tackle them later this month anyway... we'll see.

Digi catchup

At the end of September the Simply Project Life group had a game of "Telephone Scrapping"...lots of fun to see how a layout evolves from the first one posted to the end.

I did two layouts during the game:

During September the Gingerscraps site had their 11th birthday. I had plans of doing a few of the challenges but then ended up getting some private work to do which put paid to my free time. In the end I only got one layout done for the Speed Scrap.

Hope that next time there is a challenge that I can get a few more done.

Simply Project Life - Bingo

This whole month there has been a bingo challenge on the Simply Project Life facebook group and I've managed to do most of the rows and columns:

Column 1

Diagonal R

Row C

Diagonal L
Column 3

Column 4

Column 5

Row A

Row B

Row D
There are only two that I didn't get done, Column 2 and Row E as I don't own the kit that was required. I really enjoy stretching my brain to come up with layouts that match the challenge. However, some of these layouts might still get tweaked and edited quite a bit before they are printed. But for now they are done.

Let's see what the new month brings with some creativity.

Simply Project Life - Christmas in July

This group on facebook is hosted daily challenges in July to celebrate Christmas. I decided to dive in an take part. Instead of the usual 12x12 pages, this time I decided that I would make 6x8 size pages for these challenges and possibly print them into a mini-album (or not!).. they are just fun to do. Here's what I've managed to do:

1- Tree

2 - Lights

3 - Treats

4 - Clothes

5 - Tradition

6 - Santa

7 - Making a List
8 - weather
9 - family time
10 - Food
11 - Christmas Eve
12 - Celebrations
This was a really great way to remember all sorts of things about Christmas over the years.

By The Numbers Challenge - Week 3

Here are my last three layouts for the #ByTheNumbers Challenge at Simply Project Life. Boo hoo the challenge is over...but yippee yay I managed to do all 12 challenges. Very chuffed indeed.

Challenge 10 - Use 10 journalling bullet points
I did our March happenings layout... each event is a different bullet point in my journalling.

Challenge 11 - Make a layout with 11 pockets

For this layout I used two Bigshot templates and so worked on 11 pockets over the two pages. The bottom two with the houses are just huge spaces in which I added a card. I then typed the title and added my journalling.

Challenge 12 - Use the SquaredAway12 template
This challenge was fun... I haven't used this template before and so decided to use the small squares for my title... added lots of text (think I might need to change that yellow G to a softer shade?). Also just journalled about our family happenings in the month.

You can see the rest of my layouts here and here. Come play along too.. you have till the 18th of March to load layouts onto the group under each challenge.

By The Numbers Challenge - Week 2

Last week was an interesting week with the #ByTheNumbers challenges on the Simply Project Life facebook group. Some of them I found easy enough to do and others I stressed over and rehashed before I was 100% happy. So here's what I've created:

Challenge 5 - a layout with 5 filler cards
I had fun creating this page... I used 5 filler cards - 3 on the left (blue dots, camera, yellow happy) and 2 on the right page (Fun and friends) as well as a whole bunch of journal cards. I made sure that the filler cards were "as is" and only journalled on the others... hehe. The title of my page is actually the graphic used to advertise the day.

Challenge 6 - a layout using the 6th kit in the "my kits" section of your library
This kit for me is the "celebrate everyday overlays" ... well that's a stretch as there aren't toooooo many options of cards.

I made this page which I like but it's not actually going to go into my album ... so just making a pretty page defeats the object for me.

I will need to redo this challenge.

Challenge 7 - a page using the 7th vertical filler card in the Kraft Edition kit
This is the "good times" card. I made this page very quickly using a few photos and the card.
As this layout isn't one I had planned for my 2018 album and I wasn't really happy with it, I then redid the page for the challenge.

Now I really love my layout as it stretched me in making it all in the am, used the card and also used my favourite blue colour. I might go back and change the orientation of the journalling just to make it easier to read.

Challenge 8 - a layout using your 8th from last font
My font is kg Arrows which is such fun font to add to a layout. I used the letter "x" to add arrows to two of my photos along with some text to create sort of an overlay effect.

Challenge 9 - use 9 fonts on a layout
Well this one was a challenge indeed. Lots of people used their fonts to create a sort of "word pile" but I wanted to stretch my creativity and use my fonts for the embellishments. This is all done through the fft feature of the project life app and using fonts that I've imported and some standard app fonts. I will most probably still tweak this page before it is finally printed but for now I am happy with what I made.

The fonts I used are:
1 kg flavor and frames 3 - scallops
2 sanserif thin - stitching on scallops
3 kg frames 4 - flags
4 times new roman - stitching on flags
5 mouse memoirs - Dec
6 numberpile regular - dates on photos
7 numberpile reversed - dates on journal
8 jonathan - journal text
9 janda flower doodle - flower

So now I wait for the last three challenges to be released this week so that I can create a few more pages for my 2018 album...oh and I guess I can redo challenge 6 too.

By The Numbers Challenge - week 1

It's time to share a few layouts I've been making for my 2018 album. There is a new challenge series going on in the Simply Project Life facebook group that I am using to motivate me to get my pages done... it's called #bythenumberschallenge. Here's what I've managed to do so far:

1. Page with only 1 photo - I decided to make the front page for my album:

2. Use two different kits - I used the Bloom Edition and Kiwi Edition kits.

3. Use three square pockets - I took a bit of liberty with this one and used three squares as embellishments.

4. Use Bigshot4 template - Made right side in Design U using #justaddcolorphotooverlay and #fft journalling, then exported. Finished in Bigshot4. Used the #HelloDecember kit to get the green colour.

I will post a few more pages next week... the challenge runs till the 18th of March if you want to play along too.

PL challenge layouts

I have spent the last few days since Christmas working on my 2018 album, in between filing all my finished layouts and tidying up my scraproom, and have taken part in some of the challenges on the Simply Project Life facebook group. Here's what I've made:

The following layouts are for the Documenting December challenges (#docdec18) which was to use different cards on each layout based on the prompt:

Challenge #1 plaids - I made my own plaid card by combining an orange card with a plaid overlay.

Challenge #3 strips

Challenge #4 Chevrons - our current Christmas photo.

Challenge #5 stars

Challenge #7 wood grain

Challenge #8 hearts & Challenge #10 numbers - I used each side for each challenge.

Challenge #9 word art - used the pink card for this challenge.

I did already blog about challenge #2 & #6 here.

Since Boxing Day there has been an impromptu word challenge (#holiday2018) every day to get us scrapping. I thought I'd give this a try too. The word doesn't have to be on the layout but can rather just be inspirational too.

#1 Twinkle - got inspired by the twinkling lights at the Carols by candlelight at Aaron's school.

#2 Magic -  All about the field of cosmos we saw in March on the way home from Wyndford.

#3 Believe - our trip to the flying school open day in Feb.

#4 Wrap - took this as "wrapping up" the school year and did last day of school pics.

#5 Family - a great family visit back in July.

#6 Party - the perfect word to get started on scrapping my birthday party. (I might just need to tweak this page a bit still)

and then to round out my digi scrapping I put together a collage layout of my last 50 years pics that I used at my party.

It is soooooooooo good to make a decent start on my 2018 album and to be able to complete these challenges this year still.
