in two days.... yes I did manage to do two more layouts... and both doubles too mind you! hehehe.
Both of these layouts were kits... the first one was part of the Mega Scrap Day that I did in May last year organised by the Scrapping Studio, and the second one was one of their December kits.
This afternoon is going to be a marathon scrap session with my good friend Judi.... so off now to tidy up a bit and get scrapping....

More layouts to show you
Now that I've announced my news.... here is the layout I made for my SUCCESSFUL design team submission at SKETCHES: CREATIVELY YOURS
This weekend I managed to do my final two layouts for the March Challenge at Let's Scrap
And low and behold while I was scrapping this page, I discovered that I've run out of train-themed papers.... ouch!!! Not good news for our train-crazy family!
That was all the scrapping I did over this weekend. Our other exciting event of the weekend was that we went to see
Now this is a show that is jaw-dropping brilliant.... well worth the trip. The acrobatics are outstanding.... and most definitely come with a warning "DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME"!!!
Seeing as it is now school holidays again, I've got "mommy holiday" and am trying very hard to get some scrapping done as I am behind (gasp!!) on my layout-a-day goal for this year! I'm just not too sure how much I will actually get done as I have bookclub this week, plus Easter Services all weekend and Keith wants to paint my scraproom over the weekend too.... so reckon I'll commandeer the diningroom then. But next week is pretty free so hopefully within these next two weeks I can get lots done.
I now need to go and create my first layout for my design team... so off to scrap happily!
This weekend I managed to do my final two layouts for the March Challenge at Let's Scrap
For the above layout, I used the sketch on my right-hand side page and flipped it .... I also added a lot more photos across the top.
I used the sketch as the basis for the left-side page and used a square instead of a circle for the title area. And low and behold while I was scrapping this page, I discovered that I've run out of train-themed papers.... ouch!!! Not good news for our train-crazy family!

I had a challenging weekend
and for once not in the family way... hehe.... I partook in a few scrapbooking challenges!
First up - Scrap-A-Tale challenge for March
Use the sketch - I flipped it horizontally to work with my photos and just fit my journalling in a did it on a tag tucked behind the main photo.
Secondly - Spring Fling challenge at Scraptivity
Create a layout using green and add some bling - I used a preprinted page that I had bought ages ago for a friend's 40th but didn't end up using. My bling elements were Kaiserkraft pearls and I used some Making Memories glitter paint on the lettering and scrolls.
Third - the March challenge at Lets Scrap
Use single page sketches and scrap 5 pages then make a double page to match!
So now I've two more layouts to do for this challenge.
Other news.... it's exciting but I can't tell you till next week... sorry!

A quick update
Wow it's been a rough few weeks around the house... just been battling with Aaron with homework, his attitude and life in general at times. But then at other times everything is fine... I must admit I'm sooooooooo looking forward to the school holidays coming up.
I have managed to do a bit more scrapping but can't show it all to you as one of the layouts is for a design team application... holding thumbs to hear on the 22nd. I have however finished my framed layout that I was busy with... here it is...
Now I just need a nail in the wall and to hang it up.
I scrapped with a mom of one of Aaron's school mates on Saturday afternoon and managed to do this double page
Our kids played so nicely all afternoon that we never saw them... except in the pool! Aaron actually didn't even want to come home he was having so much fun.
And then the highlight of my weekend... Cliff Richard and the Shadows.... WOW WOW WOW... this was soooooooooo good. My very first record I ever got was a Cliff Richard one (for my 12th birthday) and he has always been my fav performer. This concert was celebrating their 50 year reunion... all the old music.... such a great evening... and even better to be able to share it with my aunt who is also a huge fan.
I've been so tired since the weekend that last night I was in bed just after 9.... amazing what a few extra hours sleep can do for a person!
I'm pretty busy at work now too.... got a huge database project to design hence no blog updating or reading/commenting like I usually do... all that is now limited to weekends at home (in between scrapping!)

Sassy Lil Going Green Challenge
This weekend is the Sassy Lil Sketches blog hop and going green challenge... I decided that I'd partake and do the sketch.... so here is my take on this "going green" challenge
(I'll put up a better scan of it next week... this is just from a photo for now to get it in in time for the challenge.)
How I did this challenge...
1. "Go Green:" Do a project that is predominantly green in color. - used lots of greens but not necessarily the predominant colour.
2. "Reduce:" Reduce your stash by creating a project where all the product used are at least one year old (no new stuff).- all stock is definitely older than one year... some of it more than three years!
3. "Reuse:" Do a project with left overs from a previous project.- all papers (except the background) are out of my scraps box... leftovers from previous layouts
4. "Recycle:" Do a project with an item that was used for something else first.- the butterflies were off a card that Sophia had made and I've now used here
So I reckon I can pat myself on the back for creating a very "green" layout!
If you have the time, why don't you also head over to Sassy Lil Sketches and partake in this challenge.

Highly recommended...
Last night I went to the premier of this film....
and all I can say is... WOW.... this is a must see (and must see again and again!) type of movie... and for me that is saying a lot as I don't go to the movies often! I really enjoyed it and can honestly say that Sandra Bullock well deserved her oscar for this movie.
You can read more about the movie here

An Easter Challenge
I've decided to partake in a challenge or two... yes in amongst everything else going on!!!
I made an Easter card for the Spring Fling challenge at Scraptivity and also combined it with the March Easter Challenge at In2Crafts

This is my first attempt at Iris Folding... something I've been longing to try... I've been collecting patterns for it for about five years, so reckon it's definitely time I started doing some.

Scrapping Quiet Time
The last two weeks have seen very little scrapping done.... yes very LITTLE!!! I'm still trying to finish my framed layout... must just modpodge it now and get a backing board for it. I did manage to do one layout this past week... which also took about three days to work on as I did painting and stamping on it too.
I did this layout based on an old article I had saved from a Craftwise magazine. The original layout was by Sarah du Pont.
I made all my own envelopes and then used stamp stickers as well as a postmark stamp. For the sealing wax I had some ready made ones so used those... painted one white first as it was pink!
Other news from the weekend... I went to Hobby-X yesterday... for me it was pretty much the same as last year. I managed to get a whole bunch of back issue magazines so have some reading to do this week. I also bought two mega punches... a square and a circle.... so cropping photos will be slightly easier now.
I've worked out my layout-a-day goal list today... and as of now I'm running even... ie done 73 layouts in 73 days... best I get scrapping again so that I can be ahead again... once I fall behind I never seem to catch a breathe again.

Scrapping through the years
This weekend I scrapped a the last few pages from each year's album that were outstanding and thus completed a few more years albums....
2006

2005 - only one more still to do for this year
2004 - I had actually finished all my layouts for this year and then found these photos so did two more pages.
2008 - I have already completed up to the end of February but I had one page still to do in this batch, so now it's done too.
And I'm busy working on a 2003 layout which I don't actually have space for in the album so am making a frame for it... once the frame is done I will show you the completed work.
So I can most definitely say it was a fruitful weekend. And to keep you up to date with my scrap goal of 365 layouts for this year... so far I've done 72.
As an aside... if you happened to get an email from me over this weekend which was entitle "Surprise for you"... please delete it... it was a spam sent by some hacker on my gmail... urgh!! and apologies from me. I got it three times on each of my other email addresses too!
