Sketch N Scrap - Guest Designer - My Card

I am up on the Sketch N Scrap New Beginnings Facebook event again with a card this time.

There was a pre-challenge poll on this crop which involved picking your favourite shape for use on a  card.... well I chose stars. Then they had a fun challenge in which you had to pick a sketch and use at least 3 of that shape.... here's the card I made:

Guess from these two cards you can definitely say that I am seeing stars!

Stick It Down - weekend crop challenge

We are having a fun "Stick It Down All Weekend" online crop... sure hope you can join in. Here's my layout for my challenge:

Soooo my challenge in detail is to use the following Tic Tac Toe board:

I went with the left column for my layout... ie hexagon, ink, stamping. I also threw in the blue and green squares as they also matched my photos. My original aim was to use the whole board but somehow that didn't pane out in the end... challenge yourself to see how many you can use on your layout.

The main requirement for this challenge is to use a double sketch from Stick It Down. So browse the SID Pinterest board to find a double sketch you like or search the blog for double layouts and find an even older sketch. I chose this sketch from August 2015:

Once your layout it done, you will need to upload it to the challenge post in the event on Facebook, so make sure you are there. (NOTE: If you want to join and haven't yet, drop me a comment with your email address you use for Facebook and I will send you an invite.) All layouts/cards need to be uploaded by the 5th of February.

More digi pages

It's going to be a fairly quiet week on my blog DT wise this coming week so I thought I'd share a whole bunch of the 2017 digi pages I've been busy with. I have about 11 in draft that need final touches or journalling, and including those I've so far made 32 pages. Guess that's one way to tackle my page-a-day goal!

I need to get cracking this week if I want to get this book printed at the end of January. Yikes! Some nights I barely manage to get two pages done. So the plan is either to simplify or to do half the year now and half another time. Guess I will know by next weekend.

Sketch N Scrap - Guest Designer

I am up on Facebook today as a Guest Designer for Sketch N Scrap.

This is the sketch that I got to work with.

Come join the fun.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 15 January

The new sketch has been revealed and so now I can show off my layout too

I used some Celebr8 papers for my page as they tied in nicely with the colours and gave a rustic feeling to these pics of my boy climbing a tree. I then found some old rubons in my stash which just added to the page too.

Come and play along with us on the blog.

ScrapPlezier - Seaside Holiday Home

My layout is up today on the ScrapPlezier blog:

I chose these colours to scrap from the moodboard inspiration and theme for this month (See my other post). The papers I used are from old Fabscraps collections. I added some triangle texture paste spots and the tried to "mist" them... not very successful but it works. I covered some of the blotches up with the extra photo and embellishments, and frankly no one will even know there was a mistake!

I finished my layout off with some basic grey letter stickers and hand journalling, plus stitching. This is an original Jowilna design that has some major "Cathy twists" on it.

I am quite proud of myself in that I used my Curio machine and diecut my own stencil out for the triangle shapes... something I've wanted to attempt for a while. Now that I know I can do this I must try a few more designs.

Remember to play along on the ScrapPlezier blog each month... if there are enough entries there will be prizes.

Digital scrapping

I decided during the early part of last year that my 2017 album would be a digital one which I will print as a photobook. Well I dabbled last year with a few pages but never really finished any so didn't add them to my year tally. Now this month I need to do the whole year's worth of layouts so that I can get them printed on a special at the end of the month... nothing like cutting it fine!!

So I've made a start.... I found some templates that I can just drop photos and papers into and then save the files. I've also unzipped years worth of freebies so that I have a vast library of digital stash to use (yip my digi stash almost outweighs my physical stash!).

Here's my first few completed pages:

I will keep at it and hope to finish this project soon. It feels almost bigger than I thought it would be. Wish me luck!

Layout A Day - January

There is a challenge group on Facebook called Layout A day... it runs a few months through the year and challenges us to scrap each day. The first month for this is January. Though I might not actually scrap every day, I do try to do my fair share towards the goal.

I scrapped lots on the 1st and 2nd of January and managed to get 7 double layouts done.  I also scrapped on Saturday and did another double and single layout. So this all adds up to 19 pages in this month's tally.... well on my way to the goal of 31.

Here are some of those layouts I've created that are all based on Jowilna originals.

Hoping to get a few more done in the next few weeks too.

ScrapPlezier - January moodboard

Phew it's been a couple of stressful days workwise and in the family My year at work has not started off too well but I am knuckling down and making the best of a bad situation. Yesterday hubby decided to have a slight altercation with a chainsaw and sliced open a few of his fingers. He had to have them stitched in theatre and spent the night in hospital. Home now and all good. At least I can say that Scrapbooking is definitely my therapy to get me through days like this.

So without further ado, here is my layout for the new moodboard at ScrapPlezier:

I was inspired by the blues as well as the butterfly. I used Celebr8 paper for my layout and so added in touches of yellow and brown as well. The butterflies are from my stash drawer. I added letter stickers for my title and did some hand stitched trails for the butterflies.

Creative Scrappers - layouts

During December there was a giveaway on Instagram from Creative Scrappers for the newest sketch book which was released around my birthday. I really really wanted a copy of this book but the exchange rate was horrid at that time. So I entered the giveaway and then won it! Yip wishes do come true.

So now I have 100 new sketches to work through to help me get my photos onto pages. I started on the 30th of December and promptly scrapped three pages.

Here's to lots more layouts being created from these sketches during 2018.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 1st January

This is my third post for today... yip there will be days like this all year long!

The new sketch is up for Let's Scrap Sketches and here is my layout

I chose to use photos from my Mom and my trip to Wyndford a few years back in which we did a whole bunch of site seeing. This is one place I always wanted to visit (though there is nothing there besides the pipe and the river!).... was great to tick it off my bucket list.

Here's the sketch we worked with.

Check out the blog for some more inspiration.

Stick It Down - January Double Sketch

Here is another reveal for today. The sketches are up for this month and I am the featured designer for January. I used photos from Mom's stint in the hospital when she broke her hip.

Below is the awesome sketch we got to play with. I tried to mimic the ink dripping down the top of the page by dipping my layout in various shades of pink inks.... it wasn't quite as successful as I wanted but did do the job. I then enhanced everything with lots of flowers. My other tip on my page, I used lots of numbers as letters in my title to make up for the e's and s's that I was missing... they worked pretty well I think.

I also added in a journalling block to explain the reason behind the layout and photos.

This month there is a prize up for grabs by out sponsor Angie's Digital Stamps, so come play along and join the fun on the blog.
