Welcome to the Earth Day (April 22) blog hop hosted by EcoScrapbooking to launch a very exciting book.  I'm super excited to be a collaborator on this project and you can see more about my layout in the book which you can download here or in pdf format from here.

Remember that eco-scrapbooking is all about scrapping greener and wiser... so use products that are "green" otherwise Reduce, Reuse and Recycle... which is what i did on my page... I recycled an old coffee can tinfoil seal.

For added fun, here is another eco-friendly scrapping idea.  I decided to clear out my scraps for Aaron's school as a fundraiser. 

I took my full and overflowing box of layout leftovers

punched lots of circles in 3 different sizes 

and then assembled them into the perfect Christmas ornament.  

I made up kits with the full instructions and the kids at school thoroughly enjoyed making their own ornaments too. So now you too can reduce your stash and make something decorative.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 340

Wow this week has run away with me, what with helping Mom move house on Monday and Tuesday, so I never got around to posting this week's sketch for Scrapbook Challenges.

I did my layout about a friend's daughter's 10th birthday party we went to... the top photo is actually a little mini book with lots more photos of the party... great way to include more photos on a page without cluttering it up.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 261

I'm right in the middle of helping Mom move from the East Rand to the West Rand.... so luckily I managed to get my April layouts scrapped before Easter for my design team commitments.  Here is this week's one for Nuts About Sketches.

I have a box of finished pages that just need photos and decided to browse through it to see what I could use... well I found this page and it worked perfectly for the sketch.  The page was done about 5+ years ago at an all day scrap held by Retha van der Walt at Scraptifity (subsequently closed).  I must say though that just about all the rest of the pages done that day have been unassembled and put back into my stash... just not the sort of pages I scrap (or colours).

Paper Mixing Bowl - recipe for April

It's April and that means things spring related for those in the Northern climates... but here in South Africa it's the start of Autumn.... not that that has ever stopped me from scrapping about another season... I just scrap!

The reveal is up at the Paper Mixing Bowl for this month.

I used a sheet of question paper for this layout and then in the little booklet I answered all the questions.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 339

In between reorganising my acrylic stamps on Sunday, I scrapped this page for Scrapbook Challenges. The whole reason for the stamp reorganising was that I was looking for a stamp with which to alter my letters.  I found it but then carried on organising for another hour before finishing my page... hehehe... silly me!

So my stamps are now all nicely sorted by type into old CD covers so that I can see what I have and if I need a flower they are all together in one place.

This is a cormorant that we spied near the penguin rehab centre in PE on our holiday last year... I thought he was soooooo beautiful that he deserved a page all of his own.

Nuts about Sketches - Week 260

It's been a busy week with lots of visits with the family, making a birthday cake and then my niece's 5th birthday party on Saturday.  No time to scrap until yesterday, and then I got thoroughly sidetracked and ended up reorganising my acrylic stamps whilst in the middle of scrapping a page.  No necessarily a good thing.

But I digress, here is my page for today's reveal at Nuts About Sketches.

I used some leftovers on the page from the kit I scrapped at Scrapbook 'n Things in January.... I didn't particularly like the lightbulbs when I saw them in my kit... and especially not the paper... but when I did this page I thought they would be perfect... and now I love how it turned out... amazing how a certain paper/embellishment can just work when you have the right context for it.

Another sort of first for me on this page was using up miss-matched chipboard letters for my title... just found some that would work and hey presto!  The "g" is a plastic one that I've had for ages and could never figure out where to use it.

We woke up to rain this morning.... not just a soft drizzle either, but rather a heavy downpour.... was glorious to lie in bed and listen to it.  Only downside was thinking about driving to work in this weather... thankfully though it subsided by the time I left for work.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 259

Happy Easter everyone.... it's been a great weekend with family.... and being able to experience God's creation from the early morning sunrise to late afternoon sunset, plus all sorts inbetween.  Sure hope the Easter Bunny managed to find you and give you some eggs too.

Can you believe that it's April already?  In a blink of the eye we are three months into this year.  And I can gladly say that I've already completed 86 scrapbook pages this year.... with tons more planned and waiting to be done.

I used one of my new cuttlebug embossing plates and added some chicken wire detail to the heart behind the bunnies... love how this page just came together from bits and pieces.

Scrapkit pages ... some more

I spent a lot of the month of March doing some Scrapkits kits... and so here they are to show you:

Some more to tick off my to-do list of kits... but I find that I no sooner do a whole bunch than I get a whole bunch more to do.... at least it's one way to scrap my many hundreds of photos.

Scrapkit pages

I'm slowly working through some of my Scrapkit kits this year.... it's nice to be able to just pick up a kit and scrap in front of the tv... for some I've planned the photos already and for these two I did the kits and then just added the photos.

Christmas 2012... the heading for the layout just encompasses exactly what Aaron was feeling... so it was a perfect page!

Aaron went to a paintball party in Feb and when I saw this kit I just new it would be perfect for these photos.

I also did a few more kits, but these ones I altered slightly by using my own papers.

This page is about the tree we planted in memory of Dad at the Methodist church in Boksburg.  I even tried my hand at using alcohol inks to alter the chipboard flowers for this page... love how they turned out.

For our anniversary last year we spent the day at Johannesburg Zoo...

So there is four pages all done, with about 20+ more kits waiting to be put together... reckon they will keep me going all year long.
