Inky Technique layouts

It's fun when you get to play with inks, paint, stencils and various other mediums and just be creative. I sometimes wonder why we have ALL the stash when you can make beautiful layouts with just a bit of ink,a sheet of white card and plenty of imagination.

Well that's just what I did a while back in a class with Jow... we played and created two very different single pages.

I feel the need to play with ink some more.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 1 April

The first reveal for April is up on the blog.

I enjoyed playing with this sketch as it allowed me to use lots of photos. I changed the 2ups for a whole bunch of 4ups and yet the page still doesn't look crowded. This is a great way to print those sequence photos when you can't decide on which one to use.

My large photo is a jumbo that I trimmed to a square and then just matted numerous times to make it more of a focal point.

ScrapPlezier - Manly layout

With being away this weekend at Wyndford (it was a well derved break), I missed sharing my layout when it went live on the ScrapPlezier blog on Sunday. So here it is now....

I turned to some masculine themed papers for this layout. These are all from the Kaisercraft Scrap Yard Collection. I used a sketch by Kristing Davidson as my inspiration.

I added a few ink splats and stamping in black and then a few brads as well to tie everything together.

My title is made up of old stickers along with the little letters from Kaisercraft Tiny Alpha Stickers in cream.

So come and play along on the blog and see what you can find for inspiration.

South African National Scrapbooking Day layouts

At the end of January South Africa had our first official NSD day....though I didn't go to an official event, I still did scrap with friends at Shortcut Crafts. I managed to scrap three complete layouts and another two that still needed photos, which I have now done so I can showcase all my pages.

This first layout was based on a Scrapbook Generation's sketch

This next layout is made using Lady Pattern Paper... I love the blue. These papers were perfect for my niece's wedding. This layout also has two booklets with lots more photos in them. This page was originally designed by Scrapbook n Things.

For this one, I used new Simple Stories New Year's papers for this page.... not too often I get to used this sort of themed paper.

Next up is another layout using a sketch from Scrapbook Generations.... lots of photos on this one.

An lastly was the layout we received on the day as a freebie... a gorgeous simple page with Lady Pattern Paper, designed by Jowilna.

Maybe next year I will actually go to the event, otherwise I will just scrap lots and lots.

ScrapPlezier - Christmas Stocking

I have a new layout up on the ScrapPlezier blog today. I had fun turning to some old Kaisercraft Christmas paper and making a festive page.

This page is a scraplift of one I saw a few years back on Pinterest. I made my own cut file for the stocking to make cutting and matching sizes of the bits a tiny bit easier. All the paper on my page is from a 6x6 pad of Kaisercraft Christmas Carnival that I've had for a while.

The title for my page is from JustNick. I cut the Merry out twice to use the second one as a outline. The word Christmas I cut out five times and stuck ontop of one another to give a bit of dimension.

I also added a few extra embellishments, rubons and stickers that carry the theme across.

Lets Scrap Sketches - 15 March

The new sketch reveal is up.... I had fun making my layout.

All the paper I used on this layout was out of my "leftovers" box. I almost have more fun scrapping with leftovers than using new paper.... hehe.

This is the sketch we got to play with.

When I saw the little guy in the sketch I knew I wanted to make some paper piecing detail. So I found an image on the internet and spent two days turning it into a cut file. Not the easiest way to do it but it was fun. Here is the close up detail of my two paper piecing bits.

I even played a little with my new distress oxide inks that I got last week... at the time I only had the brown. I inked my doily as well as a piece of copy paper on which I printed my journalling. Can't wait to explore this ink some more in the days to come.

So now you can head over to the blog and play along with this sketch.

Scrapplezier - Mood Board Challenge

I am up with my first layout for ScrapPlezier today. It's a mood board challenge. These are not easy for me but when I saw the coffee and books, I just knew I could make a layout.

I used various papers from Kaisercraft on my layout and then added some coffee stamps and a few stitches just to end things off.

Here is the mood board for you to play along with too.

Join in on ScrapPlezier and let's have some fun together. You can enter a layout before the 6th of April and stand a chance to win a gift voucher for the store.

I changed the jumbo photos on the right page to a whole host of 2ups. Also I substituted the circles for 2 more 2ups. I used only scraps on my page too... was a good way to use up a little of my stash too.

Check out the blog for lots more ideas with the sketch and to see more from the new DT.

Scrapbook Generations - Online Crop

At the beginning of February, Scrapbook Generations had another online crop called "Let's Party". I decided that this time around I would definitely try to complete all the scrapping challenges. Here are some of the pages I created:

This first page was a "team effort" page... I was at Shortcuts for a Scrap and Chat and totally dithering with these photos. Well Jowilna shuffled them around and we came up with this arrangement that worked. Then I couldn't find paper to work.... well in stepped another friend Jeaunes and she let me ruffle through her scraps... I found these papers that worked perfectly. I then just added some brown cardstock, the title and buttons plus some paint splatters.

On this next page I used a new embossing powder that was introduced at Creativation and Paperworld in Germany. Shorcuts Crafts brought in a few for us to play with...loved the colours but restricted myself to just two.. this blue/green one and a white one.

This layout is a Jowilna original that I scraplifted and made work for my photos and the challenge. I used inks, diecuts, buttons, pattern paper, washi tape, bling and stitching. I also cut the cork into circles for embellishments.

Next up is my layout for the sketch challenge. I had used this sketch before so this time around I took a few liberties. I ran out of "a"s with my stickers so used the frame of a leftover one and just backed it with some pattern paper.

Lastly, this layout is for the "top ten" challenge... I decided to showcase the desserts we ate at Wyndford.... yummy reasons to keep going back!

And lastly, this gorgeous layout that I did in a class with Jowilna fit perfectly for the party challenge.

There were seven challenges in total and I managed to complete them all... yippee.

Side Note: Yes there are only 6 layouts here, but the other challenge was covered with my previous layout that I shared (coffee cups).
