It's time to share again my inspiration for our monthly theme at Unstampabelles:

This month's challenge is: Tea in the Garden
The twist to the challenge is: Watercolour Wonders

I had a few ideas running around in  my head for weeks until I finally settled on making this basket of flowers. I kept thinking of "an English Country Garden" and how you would stroll through it and pick a basket of flowers before enjoying tea outside.... okay maybe I just read too many old English romance novels.... hehehehe. Anyways this is where I got my inspiration from.

I made all types and size flowers and tried a few new ones. Also figured out how to do the weaving for the basket. This piece is about 27cm square. I used an old cardboard box for my backing... applied a layer of white gesso and then some distress inks in three shades of greens and blues to do the background.

Off The Rails - Aug2019 moodboard

Today I am sharing my layout to give a little inspiration from our moodboard for this month:

The moodboard and challenge is all about black and white... this is sooooooooo not an easy one for me as I really do love colour. I found these cute bunny photos from one of my trips to Wyndford and decided to make this page predominantly black and white. I used various papers from my stash that had patterns in it and then also added white stitching and the flowers. Then I dug out some brads, a flair and even some leftover stamped bits. Lastly was using some stickers to make my title. It's amazing actually how much black and white stash I found once I started looking. This page only made a small dent into that stash.

The Digital Press - Summer Camp 2019

Yikes it seems that I forgot to post these pages at the end of July.... I had such a fun month scrapping digitally that I somehow got a bit sidetracked from blogging, and August has been hectic that today is the first chance I'm getting to do scrapping admin.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 15 Aug

It's been a rough week here... busy beyond note with work, long school days for Aaron (extra physics till 4pm every day and loads of homework!) and then I heard yesterday morning that a dear scrapping friend (CathyV) died... still battling to comprehend this.

A good part of this week was taking Aaron shopping yesterday for his suit for the matric farewell happening next month. We managed to get all the bits except for a tie but my feet were rather sore after two hours of walking the mall from one end to the other. Our biggest score of the day was his jacket. He particularly wanted a cream/beige colour and not too many shops stock them. We popped into the Polo store just for a look see and on their discounted rack found the only jacket that was in the that colour and it was his size.... plus marked down from the original R5000 to R1250. It was obviously just waiting for us! hehe. It might have been more that we actually wanted to spend but considering that the other shops were more than that (and one shop had shirts for that price!) it seemed like a great deal. At least I can cross that item off the to-do list.

I haven't managed to do much scrapping this week with all the running around and stuff, so thankfully I did finish this page last weekend in time for the reveal.

I really enjoy making these sunburst type pages as you get to use a combination of colours and patterns... though sometimes the maths of cutting is a bit much! Thankfully this one came together pretty easily and the layout was really quick to make. I used some bits from a sheet of Simple Stories which I fussy cut to embellish my page and then added the silver word diecut for my title.

This is sadly my last layout for Let's Scrap Sketches...I am stepping down as of the end of this month as I have been feeling less and less motivated to "paper" scrap and more and more inclined to digi scrap... so no I'm not giving up my hobby, just changing focus... plus my pile of printed pics is coming to an end (have a few more pages to do so this is not totally the end yet!).

Here's to a calmer week ahead.

My quilling got "exported"

Ok so I am not in the business of making goodies to export but if family ask for it and someone is going overseas, then why the heck not! This is what happened two weeks ago.

Keith is currently in Canada visiting his family there and his sister requested a few goodies..... so I quickly made them, packaged them and packed them into his suitcase before he left last Thursday.

She wants to hang these on her Christmas tree. That's fairly easy to do with a needle and thread... just feed it through one of the ears and tie a knot.

IQCG - Aug2019 - Indian

Today is the DT reveal day for this month's theme challenge at Indian Quilling Challenge (#IQCG61). It's all about everything Indian  ... and boy was I stumped!!!

I google and then discovered that the national bird of India is the peacock. This is a truly beautiful bird so I took it as my inspiration for my creation. As I had made a peacock years ago I decided this time to only make a feather. But then my creative juices ran out of oomph and I was stumped again. So finally after much dithering I decided to take the feather idea and make a mandala out of it... just a simple little creation with lots of inspiration behind it.

Sketch n Scrap - August card

Here is my card for this month's sketch:

I was inspired by the rings on the sketch and thought of coffee stains, so pulled out some coffee flavoured papers and my stamps. Just a quick card for any occasion.

Stick It Down - Double layout - Aug 2019

It's time to share my layout for the new double page sketch for this month:

This is the fabulous sketch we worked with. I really liked all the different bits and pieces which can be papers or photos. I used the birthday range from LA Paper to create my layout.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 1 Aug

It's a brand new month and hopefully I will get some scrapping done this month (physical and digi!). With the month of July being part of the northern hemisphere's summer things getrather busy over there and so the second sketch for last month got a little missed in all the fun. So this month there will actually be three sketches to play with.

First up is my layout using the July 15th sketch:

I just used the right side of the sketch to make a single layout. Used some pretty Kaisercraft papers with lots of fussy cutting as well as a cutfile for my title.

An now on to my layout for the first August sketch:

I chose to document a month's worth of photos on this page... it was all about my #CoffeeWithCathy #100Days challenge back in 2016. I used the EchoPark range all about coffee... soooooooo perfect for these pics. I was really great to use all the different papers as well as the stickers.
