Digital Scrapbooking Day at Simply Project Life

As well as WCMD this past weekend, Saturday was Digital Scrapbooking Day (or DSD for short). As I am keen to get going with my digi layouts I gave myself the challenge of completing as many challenges out there as I could. I found challenges from Simply Project Life, Gingerscrap, The Digital Press and The LilyPad. I will share layouts for each site in it's own post. So here's the first installement.

Simply Project Life and their sister group App Scrappers - Project Life and Beyond hosted an "App Scrap Across America" event on Saturday with online challenges for those of us who couldn't make it. There were 11 challenges in total and I managed to complete 6 by "bedtime on Sunday" (which was the stated deadline but would have been 6 Monday morning and I wasn't staying up all night to scrap!)
Use a panorama photo

This or That challenge

Make an announcement
Start in PL App and finish in Over
Split a photo over two pockets

There were a few more that I was keen on trying but really just ran out of omph. I might just tackle them later this month anyway... we'll see.

Digi catchup

At the end of September the Simply Project Life group had a game of "Telephone Scrapping"...lots of fun to see how a layout evolves from the first one posted to the end.

I did two layouts during the game:

During September the Gingerscraps site had their 11th birthday. I had plans of doing a few of the challenges but then ended up getting some private work to do which put paid to my free time. In the end I only got one layout done for the Speed Scrap.

Hope that next time there is a challenge that I can get a few more done.

Stick It Down - Double Layout - Oct2019

The new month has started and I have been busy creating again for all the posts that will be shared this month. This layout was in the planning for a while and finally came together to be shared today:

I used some leftover stash from Celebr8 for my layout... love the colours in all these papers. I ehanced everything by adding some flower clusters int he same colours and then did some stamping for my title and the tag labels.

The tags actually flap up and down to show the menus from each mealtime.

So in effect I got 16 photos on this two page layout.

Here is the fabulous sketch we worked with.

Sketch n Scrap - October layout

There is a fun 5photo sketch on the blog this month and I really am glad to have one with lots of photos to scrap this month.

I've been holding on to these photos for ages to put them onto a page so this sketch was just perfect. This is one of the last of my 2014 pages that was outstanding (think I have 2 left to do!).

UnstampaBellas: Sept2019

Here is a pretty spring card perfect for this time of year:

This month's challenge is: Time for Recess (Apertures)
The twist to the challenge is: Luscious Layering

I saw a similar design to this on pinterest and used it for my inspiration. Things went along from there.... I made all the flower petals and then decided to do hexagons for my aperture shapes. Trying to get them to lineup is not quite so easy... I see they're not perfect but that is me!!!  -Nothing is ever perfect, straight or symmetrical in my life.

Remember to link you entry to the first post of the month.

See more great inspiration from the team on the blog.

Sketch n Scrap - Sept Card

Our newest challenges are running on the facebook group... come and join us for some fun. Here is my card that I've created for my challenge today:

My twist to this challenge is for you to use SCALLOPS. I used a border sticker which had scallops on for my twist. Also, the sentiment sticker has a few scallops on it.

As an added bonus, I only used scraps and leftovers on my card and everything is from different manufacturers. Another great way to mix and match your stash to use it up.

Come play along and have some fun in our monthly challenge group.

IQCG - Sept 2019 - Minions

It's time again to share our moodboard and inspiration this month... it's a fun one:

I love making minions (did a few for a layout earlier this year), and so I was really looking forward to doing this one and trying something a little different. I took my inspiration for my design from some Perler Bead designs and worked out how to translate that into coils. I then made lots and lots and lots of little coils which I glued together in sequence and then glued each sequence together to shape the little guy. I attached a few magnet strips to the back and he is now happily clinging to my filing cabinet.

Come play along on the blog and be inspired by the rest of the team. Link your creation to this post.

Stick It Down - Double Layout - Sept 2019

Spring is slowly making it's way this year... last week we had glorious weather and then this weekend it got chilly again. I am truly thankful that we're not sweltering yet like some years have been. Friday also saw us have our first shower of rain for the season... it was a gentle drizzle for a few hours before the sun came up... was a great way to wake up. Praying that we get some decent rains this year too.

So back to the business on hand...scrapping! Here is my layout for this month's double sketch at Stick It Down:

I've been keeping these photos aside for a while now waiting to scrap them and then along came this sketch which was just perfect. I also got to add in little bits of cherry paper to tie it all together. Loved that I could add some inky bits too. Oh and did you see, I've even used ribbon on my page (dug that out the box of stash too!)

This is the fabulous sketch we worked with.

Sketch n Scrap - Sept layout

It's time to share my layout using the first sketch for this month.

My layout is about the end of my 100 days of coffee that I did back in 2016... I had the perfect coffee themed papers from Fabscraps for this page so it really came together quite quickly. I also added in some chipboard words and coffee cup as well as the fussy cut design.
