Challenge Summary Jan25

This month the challenges have been a little different... some are the same and some new ones. this is due to stores closing (The Studio as of the end of Jan), designers moving (lots migrated from The Lilypad and found new homes) and new challenge formats happening too. It's the New Year and a new way of doing things I guess. So here's my long summary of what I did.

The Lilypad

The Lilypad changed ownership at the beginning of January which saw some designers leaving and some changes being made so how things work. The Monthly Challenges however stayed the same.

The event for this month was a Pad Hop which got us reacquainted with The Lilypad and hoping all all around posting comments, layouts and having fun.  I did these few layouts:

With everything up in the air the was no MOC challenge being run like in the past 12 years. Lots of people in the forum were upset about this and the decision was taken to revisit past MOC challenges and to do some of those instead. Some people were doing a specific year, some were doing a lucky dip through the years. I thought I'd tackle this too but wasn't too sure which year/challenges I would do. In the end I didn't actually get to any as I had so many other commitments. I did do one challenge for this as part of the hop

The rest of the Pad Hop was leaving love on layouts, picking Froggy Favourite, choosing a wishlist item, getting chatty and introducing ourselves.

Sweet Shoppe

The monthly challenges are on hold for January as Sweet Shoppe gears up for it's 19th birthday celebration next month. At least two designers from The Lilypad moved here in January (Becca Bonneville and Sara Gleason). I did find a challenge to do though:

CMG Tags of 2025 - There will be one tag a month for this year... hopefully something I can stick with.

Pickleberry Pop

They ran a new style of challenges this month... a bingo board which made things easy as each prompt is open to interpretation and three of them provided freebies. The goal is to do two rows/columns to earn the monthly reward kit. These are the blocks I did

Other news:

A new shop opened this month called Hey Scrapper and a few of the designers from TLP  that I like went there (SWL, Elif Sahin, Dunia Designs, Paisley Press, Just Jaimee). I didn't do any of their challenges yet as it's still fairly new but I might attempt some going forward. 

With The Studio closing at the end of January, one of the owners there is opening a new site called Digital Artistry from Feb so that will be another one to check out. A lot of the current designers from The Studio are moving over to this new site. However, most of the ones I follow who already have stores at Gingerscraps, Pickleberry Pop and/or Oscraps are staying at those, so I really don't think I will do much on this new site. Will need to check it out to see how things work.

So that was a very busy January, and February starts tomorrow with a whole bunch of new challenges and two events coming.

It's always sad when I read about Retirement Sales but I know they are needed to make space for new kits/templates that are coming. Today starts the sale at Gingerscraps and MissFish has quite a few templates and even a kit on sale... you can pick these goodies up at a huge discount now.
