Sketch n Scrap - End of Summer Crop

I know that we are heading for the first of spring on Friday, but in the States that are sadly coming to the end of their summer... so the Sketch n Scrap group that I follow on Facebook had an End of Summer Crop. I did two layouts and a card based on their sketches.

I will show my card in another post, as I made it as part of another project that I'm working on.

Sweet little bunny

I have loads of bunny photos... pics of our two bunnies, Marmalade and Muffin as well as our "wild" bunnies who adopted us, Copper and Marble. But of all these bunnies, I really loved taking photos of Copper. She was such a beautiful bunny who would come and visit us, sometimes for days on end, though she belonged to the nursery school down the road.

Unfortunately, once our two bunnies died, the wild bunnies never came back. So any photos I have of them are really special memories. This layout (designed by Jowilna) records one such day when I took pics of Copper.

I think I still have four or five bunny layouts planned, so there will still be lots more to see in the coming months.

August Scrapping

A few weeks back my BFF Judi came to scrap with me for the day.... that day I manged to do quite a few layouts.

I haven't done nearly as many this month as I did during July, but I have made 105 cards and envelopes.... yip you read correctly, CARDS! I decided to make some gift sets to sell at our church Heritage day in October so am busy creating up a storm and using my stash.

So anyways, here is a smidgen of the layouts that I did create this month. Most of these layouts are scraplifts of ones I have seen on Pinterest and used up buts and pieces of my stash.

This layout is based on one designed by Nicole Norswad using one of her cutfiles for Scrapbook and Cards Today... I fell in love with her design and needed to find the perfect pic to give it justice. The cutting of this design gave me quite a few nightmares... simply because my cardstock was a bit toooooooo thick and I had to cut it over and over to get it cut all the way through. I persevered (ever cut some by hand eventually!). I then used a piece of Kaisercraft paper for my background to bring out the colours in the photos but not to overpower it. The rest of the embellishments are leftover stickers from a class I did in July.

Now I need to finish some DT commitments for September and then complete my cards. So yes I won't be stopping scrapping anytime soon.

ScrapPlezier - Cruisin Along

I have another layout up today on the blog... I chose to stick with this month's theme of "road trip"

For this layout I turned to the Kaisercraft Garage Days Collection and used the following papers:
Gas Tank
Tool Box
Tyre Shop

I also added the car from collectables of this range.

Once I was happy with all the bits stuck down I went hunting for a suitable title and found a very old We R Memory Keepers rub on in my stash. This worked just perfectly. I then added the "sweet ride" rubon as well and some stitching plus made two tags from a Bo Bunny range.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 15th August

The reveal is up (a few days late due to Cathy's chemo... wishing her all the best with this treatment). Anyways, here is my layout:

We used this great sketch.

I changed things up a bit by adding flaps to the two side panels for lots more photos. Used photos on the two tags in the the mug and then journalled on the tag on the first page. Here are some more shots of these parts of my layouts:

ScrapPlezier - Oh The Places

I have another travel inspired layout up on the blog today.

I follow Paige Evans on instagram and really admire her layouts. She does a lot of sewing on her pages and incorporates it into the design, not just as a finishing touch. I thought I'd try my hand at a page as well. You can see her original here.

I started with making a globe cutfile which I then cut in two different papers and also printed for my stitching lines. I stuck the globe stand down on my background then made all the holes for the stitching. Once I had finished sewing my layout (one night in front of the tv!) I then stuck all the inside pieces down and finished off the page.

I incorporated lots of leftovers on this page... stickers from Kaisercraft, Echo Park and Simple Stories, plus different alphabet stickers and brads. A real mishmash of stash but nothing looks overcrowded. The banners are chipboard stickers from Theresa Collins.

I enjoyed making this page and might very well try a few more of Paige's inspiring designs in the future.

You can't see it too clearly but this photo is of my car's speedometer registering 70000km. Well on Friday it turned over to 110 000 km. I've had this car for 5 years now (on 1 Sept).... not bad going.

ScrapPlezier - August Moodboard

My layout for the August moodboard is up.... our theme this month is Road trips.

I used Kaisercraft - Now Boarding Collection, Check In paper for part of my background (the blue aeroplanes). Also added in some other travel themed papers that I had in my stash.

I used a cutfile for my globe and title. The little blue aeroplane is a stamp which I stamped in distress oxide faded denim. I also stamped the suitcases, ruler and hearts.

The next item I created was the tag. This is covered with embossing paste through a stencil and once dried I added all purpose ink in two shades of blue.

Lastly there is some thread, brads, bling and ink splats.

This layout is inspired by Jowilna Nolte... my favourite teacher, mentor and friend. I have said it numerous times before and again.... I really really love her layouts as they are full of little details yet look soooooooooooo well put together. Thanks Jow for your inspiration.

Stick It Down - August layout

It's a new month and I am one of the featured designers at Stick It Down this month. Here is my layout

I decided to go a bit "mixed media" on my background... dipped the kraft cardstock in various shades of distress ink and then stamped on it in grey. I then added some paper circles, stitching, buttons, splatters and washi tape.

Let's Scrap Sketches - 1st August

It's a new month which means new sketches to play with. The reveal is up and here is my layout.

I decided to try my hand a a bit of inky blending on my layout having watched a few Jennifer Macguire videos... so the piece on the left, my title and the banners were all made from one piece of paper. I applied three distress oxide inks to a sheet of cardstock and blended them together where they overlapped. I then cut out the sunburst. Once it was stuck to the page I added some stitching lines in matching colour cotton. Simple yet effective.

July Scrapping

I have been scrapping LOTS this month... it's the first month this year where I have actually met my target of a layout a day.... in fact I even surpassed that... I have created 22 doubles and 11 single layouts this month... a total of 33 layouts which equates to 55 pages. WOW!!!

I also looked up my past tally of layouts and this is the most I have EVER done in a month. In 2011 I managed 53 in one month. There have been a few months when I've done over 40 in a month but it's usually 20 or less. Feels good to be so productive again.

Here are just two of the layouts that I did.. Others have been shared already, or will be coming in August as they were for DT commitments.

My last four double pages I made this weekend still need to have their photos edited and printed, but they are all planned and scrapped.

Hopefully I will be able to repeat this feat in August, or at least come close. It feels sooooooo good to accomplish so much this month.
