Let's Scrap - 1 Nov Sketch

Today's sketch is up and it's a "blast from the past" sketch.. revisiting an oldie.

I used photos of the last praise dance we did at church on Palm Sunday in 2016... choose to use lots of colours to pick up the colours in our skirt overlays.

Scrapbook Generation Fall Crop

I tried to participate in the last two Fall Crops run on Facebook by Scrapbook Generation, but unfortunately I didn't get too many layouts done... in fact only one. Shucks. October wasn't a very good month scrap-wise.

I typed up the recipe and printed it out in place of the one photo on the page. Then added in a couple of diecut pineapples and made another slightly larger one. Finished off the page with a piece of ribbon, buttons and bling.

I am hoping to get lots more scrapping done in the next few weeks (loads of DT commitments) and also want to get some more photos ready for printing in anticipation of some sales coming at the end of November. Best I get cracking.

Catch-up on my scrapping

I did a whole host of scrapping in August and a few pages in September but quite a lot of them needed photos. I then spied a special on at Q-Photo at the end of September (thanks to Michelle van Wyk sharing it on facebook) and managed to get some photos printed so have now gotten my layouts completed.... ie I eventually got my PhD (Pages Half Done!) hehe.

Whilst playing with this collection for ScrapPlezier, I decided I loved it so much that I had to use it again and so did a sketch from Scrapbook Generations

During September I took part in the "back to school" online crop from Sketch 'n Scrap and managed to complete this layout for their one challenge.

Lastly I finished scrapping my 2011 album by finding a photo to fill in the space that I had. This layout was inspired from one I saw on pinterest.

Now that I am more or less up to date with sharing, best I get making again... got quite a few other layouts planned now that I have photos printed.

Off The rails - October tutorial

Today I am sharing a tutorial over on the blog on how I made the rainbow strips for my card boxes.

I made these boxes to store 7 rainbow cards and envelopes in. They will make a lovely gift for someone. I made 15 boxes in total... mainly to use up some of my ever-growing stash... though I only made a dent in the pile! I only managed to sell one of my boxes at the Heritage Festival at church (the whole reason I made them), so if anyone wants one please let me know. These are the cards I made:

Some Jow-inspired layouts

Over the past couple of months I have been busy scrapping, making cards and calendars and even quilling again. At least I have a whole host of photos that still need scrapping so I can get pages done even though I don't get to go to class with my favourite teacher.

So here are some of those that I managed to finish up with photos and all.

Now I need to get cracking with next month's DT commitments and also tackle a few other projects that I have planned.

Let's Scrap - 15 October

The new sketch reveal is up and for my layout I scrapped about our trip through Golden Gate a few years back.

I used some old 7Gypsies travel paper for this layout.... I can't say that this is my favourite brand at all, but this is a range I loved. The travel paper makes scrapping holidays that much easier.

ScrapPlezier - Food Fun Friends

I have a new layout up on the ScrapPlezier blog

This layout is made with scraps from various Kaisercraft collections...they were all just sitting on my desk and I grabbed bits and pieces to create the edge design. It's nice to mix and match and just let a layout flow. Once the edges were stick down, I added a little pen stitching and then a few stars. The title is a cutfile from The Cut Shoppe. Lastly I added a few enamel dots which were made from very old clear dots painted with nail polish.

I originally saw this design on pinterest about a year ago and eventually found the perfect photos to recreate it.

Off The Rails - October

I mentioned way back at the end of August that I made this new team... I'm only on every second month and then only midmonth... so it's been a long wait for this reveal for me.

I decided to use orange as my extra colour of choice on my page and did a few things of interest.
1. All my tags are cut on my Curio from various cutfiles that I have
2. The big printed stars are actually from a sheet of tissue paper that I cut out and stuck on white or orange paper
3. The filigree stars I made by colouring some book paper with Spiced Marmalade distress oxide before diecutting them out.
4. I used a plastic packet and some distress oxide in spiced Marmalde to make splats on the background. I also added a bit of grey ink in the same way.
5. Then I used some very old rubons for my title, plus a few stickers, washi tape and bling.
6. Finally I tied it all together with a piece of orange bakers twine.

ScrapPlezier - October Moodboard

This month's moodboard is up with the added theme of Halloween. As we don't celebrate Halloween at all I was pretty stretched to do this theme. But then I remembered Aaron having to do some "haunting" poetry last year and so here is my layout.

For this page I didn't use any Kaisercraft products (that's a first for this team!) and rather was inspired byt the "halloween" colours in my photos and used the "Darling Boy Two" range by Authentique. I cut out the circles using the Stone Lace Background design from JustNick.

The banner through the middle of the layout is actually a flap which lifts to reveal the script that Aaron wrote for their play based on the poem they had studied.

Stick It Down - October Double Page

It's time for a new double page challenge at Stick It Down...

I was not toooooo sure when I first saw the sketch and then decided to try my hand at being a bit more "messy" than usual.

I started with wetting my cardstock in the middle of the double and then adding some drops of red all purpose ink and then lots more water to get it to flow. Whilst it was all still wet I sprinkled some walnut crystals ontop and watched them dissolve and spread.

Next I cut out a maple leaf outline on my silhouette to go over the splat, then added my photos. Finally I used some Canadian stickers that Keith had brought me back from his last visit to Canada. Once all this was done, I did a border of stitching which tied the whole lot together and actually made the layout work better.

Soooooooo, don't be afraid of the circles on the sketch. Think outside the obvious and be inspired to have some fun. Come play along on the blog too.
