Nuts About Sketches - Week 270

It's a long weekend here... I really love having a day off in the week from the school run, though I had that for most of last week too as Aaron was off sick from Wednesday.  Thankfully he is now all better and more than ready to go back to school tomorrow.  Only four more days left of this term.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 348

With a busy work week it's fun to have scrapping as a good release mechanism.  I did this page over the weekend for Scrapbook Challenges. It looked very flat until I sat and did hand stitching on it... yip actually got out needle and thread!  I usually only doodle stitch, but the hand stitching on this page just lifted it.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 269

I'm barely keeping head above water again.... so busy at work that I'm not getting to all sorts of other stuff that I am wanting to do....like SCRAP!!! and read blogs and just catch up in general.  I did manage to find time over the weekend to get some scrapping done... thankfully... and so I have DT layouts to show you this week.

Last year I took my leftover scrap paper and turned it into a whole bunch of money.... it was a fundraiser for Aaron's school.  Having taking the photos I decided I may as well scrap them too.

Tackling some Scrapkits

My old standard fall back when I need something to scrap in front of the tv is Scrapkits... the notes are easy to follow and the pages have lots of photos.  Here are some that I've tackled over the past few weeks.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 347 (and 346)

I missed last week's reveal for Scrapbook Challenges as I didn't have my photos printed.... and to top it off when I did get them done I found I had missed one!  So not nice.  But now that they are all printed I can show you that page and also this week's one.

I made a mini album of the title block and included a lot more photos from the day.

Instead of just using one photo I used two and matted them together as one.  I also enjoyed using different things for the arrows on the page... some leftover embossed bit, and others are just strips from various pattern papers, plus the mountain sticker... dug deep into my stash for all sorts on this page.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 268

At long last I had a weekend free and could spend it in my scraproom again doing that which makes me happy - scrapping!!!  I got this week's layout done but only after I discovered that I didn't have the photos printed for it.... had to rush and get them printed quickly.

I decided that seeing as the paper I was using had stars in it, I would use stars all over in place of the circles on the sketch.  Just adds to the sparkle of my boy's happiness at his funky hairstyle.

NSD month at Let's Scrap

Let's Scrap host a month of challenges in May to celebrate National Scrapbooking Day.  I had high hopes of completing a few of the challenges, BUT life (and work) got in the way and so far I've only been able to do one page.

This was for the menu challenge.... we had to pick from a menu and submit it, and then a week later we were told what those items meant and had to scrap a page... this is my menu:

Drink: Coffee - Warm earthy colors
I used coffee brown and then added in maroon and the stripe paper has teal and yellow in it too.

Appetizers: French onion soup -  Use bits of triangles and/or long narrow strips
I used triangles to create the banner and used added two long strips (stripes and check)

Entree: Shrimp scampi – Include something that puffs up off the page.
I used some old prima flowers that I crumpled and then glued in layers to represent the flowers
Also gathered (by hand!) some ribbon which I stuck on the banner.

Side dish: Onion rings – embossing
I ran the red card and green cardstock through my cuttlebug to emboss them with flowers before cutting out the triangles and arrow

Bread
Garlic rolls – use LS sketch May ‘10.  5-12-10

Dessert: Journalling
My journalling is handwritten around the long red pattern paper - tells how hubby surprised me with these flowers on valentine's day.

I was very happy with my menu choice and love how my layout came out.  Others got things like ovals.... at first I thought I had them too but was thankful I didn't!

Pages from Scrapbook and Things

I think I've shown some of the pages I did before from the kit I bought from Lara at Scrapbook ad Things from an all day scrap she held last year.  But I did three more from that kit so have these to show now.

Still have quiet a few pages from this day to do.... I think there were six boy ones and six girl ones in all... I have now done 4!

Kits for sale

I was asked by Lara at Scrapbook and Things to design her a new kit.... well I did so and now they are on sale.  It's another 2-in-1 kit.... ie two double pages for the price of one.  These pages have a travel theme and use papers from Scrap Collections.

Over the past few months I've managed to complete some kit pages and catch up on some scrapping.

The January Bonus kit from M&M Scrapbooking Adventures caught my eye... I love working with school papers.

I actually bought this kit before school started this year, so I knew how many photos to take on that first morning... hehehe.  This page came together so well.

This next one was a set of class notes I bought a while back from The Scrapping Studio - it was for a mini album on the page.... quite a complicated thing to figure out at first, but works so very well.

Wow, this next one goes waaaaaayyyyyy back to an ISE convention at which I volunteered.  Loved the page then but was waiting for some perfect photos... these are of my niece.
