Nuts About Sketches - Week 170

School has started again on Monday.... so back into our normal early morning routine... awwh!  I love school holidays when I get to sleep in a bit.

This week's sketch from Nuts About Sketches is a great double page.

I documented out trip on the Gautrain that we took in April.  The title for this page was a chipboard one that I bought, but because of the photo arrangement I altered it slightly.... cut the rails from the one side.  I also crazily enough covered it in cardstock and cut it out by hand!  I even made my own ticket embellishments.

There are lots of great layouts to be seen on this week's blog post so be sure to check it out.

Documenting Keith's trip to Canada

In April/May this year Keith flew to Canada to see his family..... well once he was back and we sorted through the many hundreds of photos, I printed out some and created three pages to document his trip.... and here they are now for all to see...

The first two layouts are both kits from Scrapkits.

This first one is just a variety of photos of things that Keith did over the two weeks that he was in Canada.

This layout shows the family .... lots of pics of each person in the family which I put on the tags in the pockets on the right.  The original layout only used six tags but as I had lots more photos I just kept adding tags until I was done!

This layout is done with a kit from Michelle van Wyk (SA Homespun) which I won last year on In2Crafts.  Again it shows photos from a family get-together and so the booklet has lots more pics in it along with journalling.

These three pages were all started in May.... the only scrapping I did that month.... but never finished till late in June!

Nuts About Sketches - Week 169

The weeks are just flying by.... here is a new sketch from Nuts About Sketches - this was last week's sketch but Shawn had a problem with the schedule on Blogger so it was delayed in being posted.

For my layout I turned the photo 90 degrees and came up with this...

This page documents Keith's journey to Canada... the rest of his trip will be in a followup post.  Like my previous NAS layout, all the bits and pieces on this page are from leftovers.

Check out the blog for tons more inspiration from our great design team.

Shoestring Scrapbooking - Design Team - Reveal 7

Though my time on the design team at Shoestring Scrapbooking officially ended at the end of June I have still been creating goodies with my kits that I received.... they were packed full of all sorts of different stuff... thanks Canica for spoiling me.

Today I have some "off the page" items to show you...

First up is a To Do board..... I painted this with Making Memories paints.... even did some spongining!  The arrows are all from the Kaisercraft paper that was in my kit and I also painted the chipboard bracket I received.  Added in a blackboard area for writing on chores.

This chipboard frame was so zooty that I didn't want to use it on a page.  So I combined it with the wooden car... covered both with scrap paper, added a photo and made a stand for it.... one photo frame all made.

Another item I received was this chipboard handbag.  I was dithering as to what to do with it and decided to make it into a gift bag.  Covered the inside with a plain maroon colour and the outside with the beautiful floral paper.  Then tied some ribbons around, added a buckle and one gift bag made.

Most gifts require a card, so I made this birthday card for a special friend.  Inked and embossed the chipboard chandelier, then added a rubon.

Hope these items give you some inspiration too to try out off the page items.  Remember you can get most of these items at Shoestring Scrapbooking.

Google for today

I read a book about a year ago about the building of a cathedral in France, so this sort of anniversary is well worth remembering when you realize how much hard work and engineering went into building these old buildings.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 168

First week in July already... boy oh boy the year is half gone.

This week on Nuts About Sketches you are in for a great double page sketch.

I enjoyed putting together all my layouts for this month's sketches so you will be in for a treat all month long.... okay I'm biased by hey I am very proud of my layouts.  This is what I created with this awesome sketch
All the paper used on this (besides the two backing sheets) was out of my scraps box... great way to use up some leftovers.

Check out the blog for lots more layouts by our awesome design team.

Nuts About Sketches - Bonus #2 & 3

During May, Shawn posted a few bonus sketches on the Nuts About Sketches blog.... here is the second one that I have now done...

This layout shows Aaron's haircut that he got on one of those days when I was out!  Daddy took him to the barber and this is what greeted me when I got home!

This is another bonus sketch at Shawn did but for the life of me I can't find out where it was posted(!).

I had fun making the paper piecing sheriff... just a pic found on the internet which I enlarged before printing out and then cutting up.

Hope you enjoyed these bonuses.... get creating and let me know if you use them.
