What kind of "PO TATER" are you????

 
Some people never seem motivated to participate, but are just content to watch while others do the work.
They are called "Spec Taters ".
 
Some people never do anything to help, but are gifted at finding fault with the way others do the work.
They are called "Comment Taters".
 
Some people are very bossy and like to tell others what to do, but don't want to soil their own hands.
They are called "Dick Taters".
 
Some people are always looking to cause problems by asking others to agree with them. It is too hot or too cold, too sour or to sweet.
They are called "Agie Taters".
 
There are those who say they will help, but somehow just never get around to actually doing the promised help.
They are called "Hezzie Taters".
 
Some people can put up a front and pretend to be someone they are not .
They are called "Immy Taters".
 
Then there are those who love others and do what they say they will. They are always prepared to stop whatever they are doing and lend a helping hand. They bring real sunshine into the lives of others.
They are called "Sweet Po Taters".

So to all "Sweet Po Taters" whom I know... thanks a stack!

Nuts About Sketches - Week 79

Wow this is such a different sketch.... really stretches your ability to scrap outside of the square box... was lots of fun to do!

here's my take on it....

There will also be a bonus layout published on Wednesday but apologies from me... with the hectic week I've had, I never got to get my photos printed... so there is no extra layout from me this week... I will however publish it as soon as I get there.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 78

This week for Nuts About Sketches we had to do a double page sketch... these are really really fun... especially with LOTS of photos... like how I scrap!

My only problem was that in all my photos the people are looking to the right! So I simply swopped the right and left pages around and then everything worked wonders.

The title was done with glitter alpha stickers that were in my goody bag from Scrapbook Convention and the glitter flowers were from last year's convention if I remember correctly... both things I would never buy as I usually only scrap BOY layouts! And yet in the last few weeks I've done more pink layouts than anything... hehehe.

Today was F-U-N!!!

This is where I was today.....

and boy was it F-U-N.... if you weren't there you missed out!!!! Thanks to Theresa for sharing the day with me... and fetching and carrying me in her new car.

A huge big thank you goes to Lara Cousins and Amy Totty for their input today.... Amy's layouts (we ended up doing FIVE double layouts) were stunning! And we even did BOY colours for a change... so nice and refreshing.... and sorry I can't show you them yet (as usual!) as I must still put photos on them!

Second big thank you to Audrey & Sarah from The Scrapping Studio.... they did an amazing job (and all their background helpers).... the day was perfect.... the goodies were great, the food was delicious and we just had an enjoyable day all round!

And of course it was a party, so we had windmills, blowers, sweets and lots and lots of polka dots! Every layout included some form of dotty paper.

There were also lucky draws and I was ever so lucky.... my name was the first one drawn on the day and I won a pair of stamps... lovely flowers.

And so now I can sit back and admire what I made and drool over the lovely goodies I also bought today (yip we did some shopping too!)

The entire day was also in aid of The Heartfelt Project.... who make the most stunning felt creations... check out their website for more details or to order.

The cutest felt designs are hand-sewn by a group of women in Makapanstad, North-West. The unique designs of the heartfelt project hold the stories of everyday life. Each carries a message of hope and contributes a small donation to an HIV/AIDS & TB charity in the local community, while also helping to feed and clothe the ladies and their families.

So think bright, happy thoughts for the people of Africa. Your donation through The Heartfelt Project is one small way of filling many hearts with hope.

ps... the other highlight of today.... Aaron came home from his two week stint with Papa & Granny.... was great to get a nice big hug from my little guy when I got home.

More scrapping

As promised on my last scrapping post, here is the layout that I was busy with... now all finished and uploaded.

I kept the newspaper article from our local paper for this, scanned it and then printed it as a jumbo photo to be the main journalling on the layout... this was all about a xtreme makeover... from nothing to park in 24 hours!

A friend of ours was involved in the original concept and we actually watched it live on tv the day it happened... and all of this just down the road from where we live!

Sadly there were a few crime incidents there a few months later and so now we don't frequent the park as much as we should. I drove past it today and it's looking lovely and green... really a nice looking place for the kids to play... just need to have Daddy in tow!

I didn't Google today but got sent there by my friend who had... and then teased me with an email wanting to know what I would post about Google today.... well here it is....

I presume (!) all those lines say Google... who knows? At least that was the address I typed in. Sure brings back all those ethotiopian family photo jokes.

I've been busy.....

scrapping! Yip the "bug" bit again this past weekend and I managed to do a whole bunch of layouts. It's really a great feeling when I can be so productive.... and a lot of these layouts were "catch-up on unfinished projects" too!

This layout was one of the ones I did at the Mega-Scrap day that I went to in Boksburg earlier this year... the colours of Aaron's clothes just matched perfectly.

Keith's parent's 50th wedding anniversary... a planned page that I ended up changing the paper of at the last minute... I love how it turned out.

This was one of the layouts from last year's Scrapbook Convention... Kay-Mei Smith's class... I just did it in my own colours and without the stamping or flowers.

And yet another from last year's convention... this one was one of Rachel Scholtz's pages... again I left bits off (like the stamping... just doodled)... and added extras... like the extra chipboard wording and flowers.

I've still got one more page in process which hopefully I will finish today and can show you later this week. I did also manage to do another of my sketch team pages as well but that one you will have to wait to see. So all in all a most productive weekend.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 77

Here is this week's Nuts About Sketches sketch and my interpretation...

I decided to add in stickers on the top to create a semi patterned paper look... they were all off different Scenie Route Metropolis Monogram sticker sheets... some were the middles of the stickers which I just cut out.

When I showed this layout to Aaron and my Mom yesterday, my Mom was saying that Aaron still uses the footstool as a place to watch tv but he now overflows it... the cushions have to be outside and his legs hang off... I suppose he has grown a bit in 18 months!

Scrapbook Convention 2009 - Photos

Well it's come and gone... I went to the Scrapbook Convention last weekend and had a GREAT time... thanks again to Glenda and her amazing team for organising a stunning weekend.... it was a big improvement on last year's one.... and experiencing it from a delegate's point of view was nice to do again... much less stressful or tiring! Anyway, we were asked to delay posting on our blogs for a week as the Cape Town Convention is happening this week... and yes I've delayed but you are still not going to see my layouts... why? Well they're not finished... hehehe... they will come in time I promise. But here is what happened over the weekend....

My friend Gayle was one of the volunteers this year and we happened to be in the same group.... plus I managed to sit at one of the tables she was working at... no preferential treatment was received but it was nice to be able to share with her all weekend.... so hence each photos has both of us in it! Also Gayle and I stayed over at my parents and shared the travelling so when Gayle had to be there just after 6 on Saturday morning, so was I! Unfortunately I forgot to take my book to read so just sat around waiting for the time to go. Oh and not forget to mention, I also ended up coughing my way through the weekend... the start of pharyngitus!

My first lesson on Saturday was Kaisercraft.... Melissa Kennedy.... she was a fun teacher, when you get around the aussie accent! Our class was very pretty.... pink and brown flowery stuff... will take some getting around to get it finished.

The second class was Jowilna Nolte for KI Memories.... the paper was suspect as to what I would normally use... a bit bright! But WOW I love the layout we did... must just get my photos properly printed and then it will be finished.... unfortunately we didn't get a pic with Jowilna... next time! I did win a lucky name draw in this class and got a 7 Gypsies paper pack... nice one.

The third class was America Crafts with Mike Stevens. We made a little handbag minialbum... which you can see Gayle holding. As to when(?) I would ever use this it waits to be seen... but it was very cute. We had lots of fun and games throughout this class with the projector, mic and then the pc... but Mike chatted and told jokes all the while so it was lots of fun.

Sunday morning dawned early again.... Gayle had to be back at Emperor's at 6:15! So thankfully I remembered my book and read for a while before class.

Our first class was Glitz Design with Laura Funk and Erin DeSpain.... very beautiful girls... the class was decided PINK but this is one page that I actually FINISHED.... again just need to get my photos properly printed then I can show it to you... I had just taken paper prints of my pics for temporary positioning and most of them didn't work with the layouts, but this was one that worked perfectly!

After tea we did Tracey Hudson's Prima class.... when we walked in we were each given this great bit rose.... well us at our table just stuck it in our hair and took a table photo... such fun!

We then presumed to dismantle the flower and use it on our page.... turned out beautifully... must find the right photos for it though and then get it framed... very 3D page so it won't be going into an album! Tracey is from the UK so we had yet another accent to overcome but it was very refreshing to hear her speak.

Our final lesson of the Convention after lunch on Sunday was with Cathie Allen from Canada (her blog is coming!). This lesson was very intensive STAMPING... using ClearSnap stamps and a variety of inkpads.... definitely learnt a LOT here... about which ink to use when and not to be limited to just stamping a flower or two or the title on a page.... Cathie has been stamping for over 30 years and only scraps with stamping.... she NEVER buys paper... makes her own... and boy were they beautiful.

Well that was all the classes. Our kits were great and we got lots of extras too.... including a pack of 60 sheets of American Craft paper... nice to add to my ever-growing stash!

On the side of the Convention there was also the papercraft competition... which this year took the theme of the Mad Hatters Tea Party.

And then there was my tiny one.... Tuckered Out at Disproportion Cafe.

This is the kids play area and all the "children" are fast asleep (tuckered out) in their cups.

As yet I haven't heard who won.... with only three entries in Joburg Glenda said we would have to wait till after the Cape Town Convention to hear who won.... so holding my thumbs still. I will post more photos of my display in another post.

Okay so that in a nutshell is where I was last weekend and what I did... hope you enjoyed it as much as me.

Googled

It's been a while since I googled and found some interesting new logo... and then today... it's there again.

It's such fun to open Google and get a surprise... just love these!
