Nuts About Sketches - Week 335

Boy oh boy, we went from winter to about a week of spring to full blown summer.  It's hot again. Yes it's great to see all the blooms, the sun and the blue sky, but I would really much prefer an easing into these boiling temperatures.  Make it 25 degrees and I would be a much happier camper person!

Anyways.... back to scrapping.  Here is my layout for this week's reveal:

This is the sketch that we worked with.

I tried to stick to it as close as possible, but did get a little carried away with some of the arrows... hehe. I at least got to use up some stash!

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 410

I was feeling ready for spring last week when I needed to do some creating for this reveal, but just couldn't find the right photos to work with the sketch.... so instead I used the mood board and created a card for the challenge.

This is the sketch that we worked with:

and the mood board inspiration

Be sure to check out the blog for more inspiration and why not take part in a challenge or two to win a prize.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 334

Spring has sprung.... it's so nice to see the blooms popping out and brightening up the place.

Here is my layout for this week's reveal at NAS.  I decided to add a few extra photos to the main one to show the effect of Aaron running downhill.

This is the sketch that we had to work with.
Pop over to the blog and see some more inspiration from the DT.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 333

It is sooooooooo good to be back on the NAS design team.... here is my first page for my new term:

For this page I rotated the sketch 90 degrees and then added in an extra photo. I also got to play with my new dies from Joy crafts.... love the gears. Then for a little added effect, I embossed and sanded a piece of green cardstock (looks almost white!) which is on the right of the page.

Check out the blog to see lots more inspiration from the new team.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 409

The first official day of spring and my first layout of my new term with Scrapbook Challenges.
I had a nasty bite last year while on holiday and this is now the page to remember it by. I decided to do a little paper piecing on my page, as well as some inking, stamping and splats.

Herewith the sketch inspiration:

Head over to the blog too to see some more inspiration from the rest of the team.

Back on the Design Teams

YAY!!! I am official back on the Design Team for:

Scrapbook Challenges

 as well as

Nuts About Sketches

I am definitely raring to scrap up a storm again.  I sort of took a sabbatical for this year from DT work and must admit that I have missed scrapping every weekend.  Well that's going to change now... also my blog took quite a backseat too this year with not having much scrapping to show... so hopefully I won't flood you with too many posts... but be aware they will be coming every week now.

Nuts About Sketches - DT Application

It's been pretty quiet on my scrapping front here... have been doing lots of classes but just don't have photos on those pages yet to be able to show them off.  BUT I did see that Shawn Lahr is having a DT Call for Nuts About Sketches so I thought I'd make the effort to create a brand new page and submit it.

The sketch I used was from week 314, and here is my page:

I got inspired by all the classes I've been doing with Jowilna and created the little accents for this page by inking some white cardstock in pink and blues, then splashing some brown dots before embossing it with a black ink brick pattern.  Once all dry I punched some circles... lovely inexpensive addition to the page.

Scrap-A-Doodles Design Team Audition 2014

I am putting it out there that  I would love to be on the Scrap-A-Doodles Design Team.... so here are some of my favourite pages that I feel showcase my style... simple yet full of photos.

I love playing with paper and if I can curl, cut, fold and stick it onto a layout, I will. So I couldn't just pick three pages to show my scrapping, but rather I went with a few to show how I love to play with paper.

First up is a layout which includes some quilling - the art of rolling paper.  I made all the irises and stems for this page, as well as the little daisies.

Another favourite for adding detail is iris folding... on this page I made a couple of cupcakes to enhance the theme.  I also "iced" the title with puff paint - another favourite.  Then added in a couple of baking extras for effect.

A trend not so long ago, was to do paper windmills... an old childhood favourite.  This layout definitely pops with the addition of the windmills.  Then to extend the amount of photos on this page, I made a mini-album flap on the right-hand side for tons more photos.

Another great way to include lots of photos, is by cutting them.  On this layout got to play with my cuttlebug circles.... absolutely love this die cut set.

So there you have it... singles and doubles but all with multi-photos and all with a little touch of something extra to make them mine.

Holding thumbs that I get through the first round of auditions.

Some Artzy layouts

In March I attended Retha van der Walt's Artzy Girl event.... it was a great day out with some fun artzy pages.... I learnt a few fun techniques, did stuff that I had never done before (and some I might never do again!), plus we had gorgeous food, lots of laughs and time with friends.  In general I really really enjoyed the day.

This page is based on one of the bonus kits we got but then I changed the photo placements and added the chipboard  frame which I painted silver

I'm sure the next Artzy Girl day in August will be just as much fun!

Jowilna pages

This year I have made it a point of learning something when I scrap... so I've been doing a few classes with Jowilna.... am loving all the techniques that I am learning... so here are pages that I've done since January:
