Nuts About Sketches - Week 198

Wow last Monday in January already.... time sure flies by fast.  Here is today's awesome sketch from Nuts About Sketches:

I loved all the little details in the sketch and then converted it into this:

All the papers in this layout were from my scraps box.  They were just the perfect backdrop for another train layout in our train-crazy family.  The train layout in this page belongs to Keith's uncle.

Finding google doodles

Some days when I open Google there is a doodle, but on most day's there is not.  And then on days when I expect there to be one... it takes a bit of digging to find it.... like today... it's Australia Day and going to Google.com.au this is what I found:

So don't be surprised if you don't see a doodle... they are very much "country" or domain specific.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 279

The new sketch is up in the forum for Scrapbook Challenges.  Again you have the option of a single or double page sketch.

For this week I choose to do the single page layout.

I used some leftover papers that I had from Art from the Heart... love them.  I also used some of my new Cuttlebug dies that I got last year (Christmas present to myself!).

Nuts About Sketches - Week 197

We spent this past weekend in Cape Town visiting Keith sister and family.  Was a real "flying" visit... flew down Friday morning and back Sunday night.  The nice part is we stayed in a hotel for the weekend - no cooking!

So another Monday has arrived (which I seemed to miss!), which means another sketch from Nuts About Sketches.

 Ooooo I rubbed my hands together, thought a bit and then found LOTS of photos for this page... ended up even having to extend!

I made a flap out of the left side and put a few more photos under there.

Scrapbook Challenges - Sketch 278

Another day closer to school starting.  Stationery has all been bought and labelled.  Bags are packed and I think we are ready... just not looking forward to waking up at 5:30am again!

The new sketch is up in the forum at Scrapbook Challenges.  This week you have a choice between single or double.

For my layout I chose to do the double page.  It's about Bandana Day last year - this is a day set aside for Leukemia Awareness.  We buy bandanas from Pick 'n Pay and then wear them proudly on the 12th of October.  Aaron wore his as a tie to school.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 196

Today is officially my last day of "Mommy holiday".  Tomorrow I fetch Aaron from his 10 day stay with Papa & Granny and on Wednesday it is BACK TO SCHOOL - Grade 5 this year.

So to mark the occasion... okay not really... it's just Monday again!  So as usual, here is the new sketch from Nuts About Sketches.

My layout was one of the last that I created in 2011... and I am absolutely delighted with how it turned out.

The scan doesn't really do this justice.  The background paper has the most delightful little birds all over it with just a touch of pink here and there.  I picked up the pink colour in some twine which I glued for my title and used for the stitching.  I also cut out 3 little birds and matted on on some pink cardstock.  Then I found some flowers and a small piece of ribbon and everything came together.
