I got a very surprising email today.... my blog was chosen to be a "featured blog" on a site called ScrapbookLayoutIdeas..... don't know who they are, or how they found me... but if it gets me some exposure then I guess that is good!

Nuts About Sketches - Week 176
The last day of August already! Tomorrow is SPRING.... yippeee. As this is the end of the month it must mean that there is a sketch from Nuts About Sketches.... and this in the last one for this current term for the design team.
A double layout with loads of photos.... what an absolute delight.... and it was just perfect for the ton of pics that I took to showcase Aaron's KFC kiddies meal toys that he got in April.... a raceway with cars.
Even on this layout I didn't use all the photos that I took, but this selection was enough to showcase the fun that Aaron had... and I also managed to get some great up close action shots! I think I had taken just over 80 pictures that day.
Be sure to check out the blog for the great layouts by the awesome team.
Next week will be the new team's term.... looking forward to creating more layouts for another six months.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 174
Brrrr someone left the freezer door open again. Our winter is biting again. At least the bright side of this is that I can scrap by the blazing fire, which is what I did for most of July (as you can see in my previous post). Part of that scrapfest included my design team layouts too.... so here is this week's awesome Nuts About Sketches sketch.
I decided to tackle my Easter pictures from this year.
I even managed to use bits and pieces from my stash... slowly dipping in to the hord of stuff and using it up.
So be sure to check out the blog post this week for more design inspiration.

July's scrapping feast
Last month while Aaron was on school holiday at Papa & Granny, I managed to do a ton of scrapping.... so here is what I did..... be prepared for TONS of pages....
This first page is from a Candace Greenway kit from ScrapKits.... I just used my own papers, stickers, etc to make it work for me. I must still do the journaling on this page though... but it goes inside the booklet so technically this page is done!
This last page is inspired by Karen Grunberg.... I have always admired how she sews her little letters onto her pages and decided to try it for this page... definitely an effective technique.
There you have it.... 16 pages. There are still four more that need to be scanned and then I just have 2 to do and my 2008 pages are done!

Nuts About Sketches - Week 173
The weeks are definitely flying by.... battling to keep up with the changing times. Today is Woman's Day in South Africa.... so taking it nice and easy and catching up with some outstanding chores around the house. But of course that doesn't detract from the fact that there is a new sketch up at Nuts About Sketches.
For this layout I used photos that Keith took when he went to see the Top Gear festival in South Africa... he was lucky enough to get a free ticket to the show. I used wooden lettering which I inked and then put diamond glaze on it, just to give them a bit of a lift.
The team did a fantastic variety of layouts this week, so be sure to check them out on the blog. Remember too that you have till Monday to submit your layout if you want to be on the design team.

Shoestring Scrapbooking - Design Team - Reveal 6
I've spent the last few days creating up a storm using product from Shoestring Scrapbooking.... and so here it all is for you to drool over....
The first page uses Scrapstreets Christmas paper that I got a while back... not in a design team kit though they were from Shoestring Scrapbooking... so I thought I'd share it with you anyway. (Only the alphabet stickers are not from them.)
The next two pages use paper from American Crafts that were in my design team kit for the month of June.... I love this range and have used it extensively before so it was lovely to get my hands on some more and create lots more pages using it.
As an added bonus in a way, this first page was from an old Nuts About Sketches sketch.... Week 65
Even the red letting on this above page is from Shoestring Scrapbooking... it is a real winner for affordability and ease of use!
Now on this layout the only thing from Shoestring Scrapbooking is the chipboard circle embellishment which I covered in pattern paper and then cut out (crazy or what!)... when I received this in my pack in May I just knew that I wanted to do a page on bubbles... and then I got this gorgeous paper from overseas (which is called blowing bubbles!) and the combination was just fantastic.
Happy shopping and scrapping.
Be sure to also check out this month's blog candy.

Nuts About Sketches - Week 172
Wow First of August already... the eighth month of the year has already started.... can we put the breaks on a bit please? Just now we will be talking Christmas!!!! The best part of it being a new month means that it's time for a new sketch from Nuts About Sketches.... and this week it is a double.
I had fun putting this page together.... first off it's got a ton of pics and it's such an easy layout to adapt... so instead of using jumbos for the bottom strip, I used 2ups and managed to include quiet a few more photos.
The paper and elements for this page are from FabScraps.... it is their Africa range (C40) which I won a few months back in one of the quizzes on Facebook.
Don't forget to check out the design team layouts this week on the blog... and if you love these sketches as much as I do.... apply now to be on the new design team.
