Get ready for....

We've had our thinking caps on and decided it's time... for what you might ask... well it's time for.....

SCRAP SURVIVOR

Who's game??? At the moment I'm just putting out feelers to see who would be keen. We are looking at a date in October/November and depending on how many of us want to do it depends on the venue.... my house is on offer if we can all fit.

The idea behind this is....
a) It's my 40th birthday in November and I want to celebrate
b) It was Judi's 40th birthday and we should to celebrate
c) It's Theresa's 40th birthday in October and why not celebrate
d) okay just think of an excuse and that's why.

Now not to put you off but just to add some enticement... the day will consist of various challenges (all scrapping related) and lots of laughter and of course chocolate! SO put your thinking caps on and let me know that you are keen to join in! Also let your other scrapping friends know (ie pass this on) so that we can have a REALLY fun day together.

More info to follow once I know who is interested!

now what....

Well it's been a really tough week. Work has been up and down (and is now going to be hectic for a while) and then we also had Granny's funeral on Thursday. That all went off well and it was a good day spent remembering her. But now life goes on and I have to pick myself up and go forward.

Well one nice thing is hearing Aaron laugh... he is busy watching "The Wild" and chuckling away... always gets a good laugh out of him.

So guess it's onwards and upwards from here on out... change is acoming ... I plan to update/change my blog template shortly so keep your eyes peeled.

I did change my hair a week ago... keep thinking about the praying mantis in Bugs Life.. Manny saying "Transformation! Transformation!" and seeing myself transformed... from straggly brown hair to highlights and cut in a bob.... unfortunately the photos I had Aaron take of me didn't last... they wouldn't download off my camera so I can't even show you... might manage to scrounge one out and put up soon.... but TRANSFORMATION is what it's all about.

Okay so now I've waffled a lot about nothing and you've read it... hehehehe... so let's see where to next!

A sad day indeed...

I just heard this morning from my father that my Granny has died.

Francina Ross was born on 18 October 1918 and died on 08 August 2008, just short of turning 90.

She was daughter, sister, wife, mother, Granny and Great-Granny and will be sorely missed by all her family. Rest in peace now Granny and give Grandpa a big hug from all of us when you see him.

This was a scrap layout I did a few years back to celebrate the relationship between Aaron and his Great-Granny.

Now I need to do an update I reckon.

Feeling ouch...

We went ice skating yesterday to celebrate my friend Judi's son's 11th birthday... had an absolute ball.. and Aaron even managed to get his balance and skate a bit... okay by holding my hand and me doing most of the work... but we got around. And then disaster struck... hehehe... we were doing soooooooo well... on our second loop around when someone zoomed past us and gave Aaron a bit of a fright so he wobbled, grabbed hold of me and we both went down. Thank goodness all Aaron got was a fright but I landed quite hard on my left knee and then my chin connected the ice with a big bang... send stars through my head... ouch ouch ouch!!! And ofcourse once I'm down I can't get up... a nice mommy with her son eventually stopped and helped me up (where were all the officials???). Well I limped off.... sopping wet... and that was then end of our skating for the day... would definately have gone again but I was just too sore.

And then this morning I woke still feeling sore so Keith took Aaron to school and I have sat working with my leg up... feel much better now so guess I can drive to go fetch Aaron from school.

Another piece of news just to share... I enetered a scrapping competition over the weekend... but got emlinated on the first round... bummer... but it was my own fault for not reading the rules correctly.. hehehe. Anyway here is the layout that I did for http://www.makingmemoriesforyou.org/ Simplicity Or Embellishment Contest

Okay that's me for now... more news to follow on another day.

Anyway I won their June competition and that was where it came from... mystery solved!!! I had also entered thwo others that same month but wasn't as lucky with them.

Till next time,

Christmas arrived early

There is this trend now of having "Christmas in July"... well we didn't do it but it sure arrived in our house with avengence this past weekend. Here's the story....

On Friday (the 25th!) I fetched our post from the box and found a slip to collect an insured parcel... well I wasn't expecting anything (except the one my brother sent over a year ago from New Zealand!) so had no idea what it was. Got to the post office and was given this big box... the only identification on it was a sticker for the Disney Channel and a mention of BunnyTown... no return address whatsoever.

So once home and with much excitement from Aaron we opened the parcel.... and inside was.....

my very own GHETTO BLASTER.... Thank you Santa. It must have been Father Christmas as there was no letter, no return address and I can't remember which competition I entered where I would win one of these. Anyway now I have music (or maybe that should be more?) in my scraproom.

But that's not all.... On Saturday our Ladies Fellowship had a morning's tea and I was presented with the most gorgeous bunch of flowers as well as a Rose plant... all as a thank you for my leadership for the past year... Thanks to Marita who is now taking over.

Wow I really really felt spoilt this weekend.

A VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY

It's my best friend Judi's 40th birthday today and I'm trying to find 40 ways to wish her happy birthday.

2. Sent her email from my work address

3. Sent her email from facebook

4. Sent her a hi-five

5. Sent her an email from my gmail account

6. We are going to her for supper tonight so guess I can SAY it

7. Will sing it to her when we cut cake tonight

8. Will be baking a lemon meringue pie to take for pudding tonight... always a good way to say Happy birthday

9. Have made her the most awesome present... but I can't show you yet in case she reads my blog!

10. Wrote on her wall at facebook

Okay now I need 30 more ways... Judi did suggest sky writing but my budget doesn't stretch that far so maybe someone (?) who reads this can give me a hand in wishing Judi. Comment here and I will pass them all on to her.

Have a great day my special friend,

Happy Birthday

It's such a special day today in South Africa... Mr Nelson Mandela is 90. Wow that is a good age to get too. My Granny will be 90 in a few months time too.

I really want to wish this most humble man all the best for today. I don't want to wish him another 90 years (could think of nothing worse to live to 180!!) but I do want to send him many happy years ahead with his family. May these be blessed times. God bless.

Oh and we are wishing... go to Jacaranda 94.2 FM and check out the song they sang for Mr Mandela this morning... gives you such a warm fuzzy feeling.

(Ps photo is from Jacaranda's website.. not sure where they got it from.... hope it is okay that I have used it here)

What's been keeping me...

from blogging.... well firstly it was school holidays (they started again on Monday) so for the past three weeks Aaron was with my parents and I had a break from being "Mommy"... did I mention this already???... anyway I managed to do some major SCRAPPING these last two weeks... over 10 layouts and boy do I feel chuffed... my goal for 2006 is coming to an end... only got 20 or so pages left to do!!

But... now that school is going again I don't have nearly as much "free" time to scrap so I haven't managed to do that much... started a double page on Sunday for which I must still do journalling and the title. Hopefully before the week is out I can finish it. And then I have also been doing LOTS of quilling... made fairies, butterflies, flowers and the last two nights I've made a dragon and a horse for the knight in shining armour (still to come!). So I am slowly making progress to my enchanted garden entry for the ScrapExpo in September.

Okay so that's what I've been doing and why I haven't been blogging... hopefully it will improve and I can blog more regularly soon.

OH....... and before I forget... Aaron learnt to ride his bike "without wheels" as he says... hehehe... ie without SIDEWHEELS. Such an acheivement for our little guy.
